Im wondering if i'll have any problems swapping out my 3.05' Differential Assembly with the 3.29' in my 98 year 4T60E transmission making a .24' higher drive ratio? Will it shift harder? Run in limp mode (failsafe mode) and not have any OD gear and not go over 25 mph? I do have a BandM line pressure adjuster. Thanks Everyone, much info appreciated here! Jrs3800 and 95naSTA, you guys have any knowledge of this?

You would need to retune the PCM to work with the steeper gearing. But yes, people have swapped out the FDRs in their cars before, so it should work.

You'll need a tune to adjust your shift points and speedometer.

It's been a long time since I played with any of that stuff. As has been stated, you'd need to have your PCM programmed to use the shorter gears. Also, you will have some improvement in the acceleration, but you're making less than 8% of a change in your gearing. It's going to be one of those things that's hard to notice.

I forget if you require the sun gear for the differential, but I'm 96% positive you require that as well. Gear mesh is finicky. But I could be wrong because as I said, it's been a long time.

No, your trans will not shift harder. Adjusting the line pressure will not correct what the computer sees for output revolutions.

This will have to be complimented with a tune to work correctly as your input vs output speeds will be off from what your PCM expects to see.

Also, make certain you're getting the fine tooth diff(3.29), not the coarse tooth 3.33.

Someone set me straight if I'm off my rocker. Old age has cause my memory to fail me more often these days.
