Looking to get some more performance and hopefully mileage also out of my 03 SSEi. What are some suggestions that wont be too horribly expensive? It is bone stock right now.

I'm only 5 months into this, but I started off with a fender well intake air system and will be putting headers on soon.

First and foremost, a car in perfect running STOCK condition is the place to start. Make sure you are up on all your maintainance items.

Next, a pcm tune will be of best benefit, imo. Couple that with a fwi(fender well intake) system, and that will help greatly. For the 3rd item of best bang for a budget would be a shift kit for the trans. Do a search on that one, some people piece them together or buy a trans-go shift kit. That should be a good starting set of 3 for ya.

How would a shift kit be the 3rd item for the best bang? I would not want my car shifting hard unless I were going to the track since this is my daily driver. Dont you want to do a pcm tune based on the mods you do?

The shift kit makes the trans shift quicker, firming up shifts. This helps save heat on the clutches which would otherwise cause them to wear out faster. :btruestory:

Mine shifts JUST like a 4T60E would. Nice and firm, not jarring like my 85 will/did.

A tune will normally include bumping up line pressure a bit, which will also firm and quicken shifts. I wouldn't consider a shiftkit a mandatory first level mod.

My lis? Fwi, 180* stat, tune. Then you'll start getting into headers, rockers, pulleys. Usually a 3.6 pulley is alright with a fwi and stat, but a scan gauge becomes increasingly important as the mods add up.

We need to know HOW MUCH more performance you are wanting to have.

Headers arent necessary if you are just going to do a few mods. From the sounds of what hes wanting to do a 3in DP and a hi-flow cat would suffice him.
