Right now i have the stock air box but it is gutted. I was thinking about getting a cone air filter and mounting it in the engine bay. I am not sure if this would do any good because it could pull in hot air from the engine bay. Not sure if i want to spend the money on a fwi.

Cone filter IN engine bay will do NOTHING for performance. COLDer air is better. Just save up for a FWI. If you are not going to mod further than a CAI/FWI I would just do a drop in hi-flow filter in the stock box. You can also "gut" the stock air box for better flow. Do a search with the search function and more than a few threads should pop up.

What are you trying to accomplish?
A non sc'ed 3.8 wont see much of a benefit with even a true cai without other mods.

If you just wanna grab a bit of throttle response and make it sound cool then thats the way to go though.

I mostly want a little more roar. Im not worried about gaining horsepower but I don't want to hinder my performance either.

Once the car is moving, hot air is circulated out....

There is also a gain in throttle response, power, mpg, and the sound your looking for.

Ultra? I'm also thinking of putting a cone on my tb.with it being my only mod,I really don't expect a hp,tq increase.I just love the look,of the cone on the tb!also I'm just looking for the sound during wot,not that I drive it like that often but when I do I want to hear it.Are you saying that a cone is ok to run by itself due to hot air being circulated out?or that the fwi would see this type of gains?

Yes, you'll get the sound and look you desire. I'm assuming you'll have the coupler. What's your email, I'll get you a pic of what I did.

I Run a K&N RU-3130 on a Short Ram intake pipe i made from www.SiliconeIntakes.com, moves the filter to stock location. Seems to work fine, no real noticeable difference with the fender well portion installed.

hi, you can make your own with hvac ducting from home depot and the like - you just need to fill the gap from the rubber to the front bumper or fender - wont look cool but will get the job done
