I have been doing some research on y pipes since my bonnie only is a single exhaust and i think i can use a y pipe to create a true dual exhaust. i have a glasspack in place of the factory resonator so i need to know where i can install a y pipe after it. it sounds like a v8 as it is now so i also wanna know what effect it will have on the sound. also any info on gains/losses in performance would be appreciated.

1. You will gain nothing from it other than a lighter wallet. The only components that may improve performance are the downpipe and cat on your car. As much as you think it sounds like a V8, to the trained ear (a good many of us) it'll sound like a V6 with an aftermarket exhaust. You cannot make a V6 sound like a V8 regardless of exhaust type.

2. The stock SSEi exhaust from your year has a Y exhaust. Go get a setup from the wrecker.

3. Putting a Y in isn't true dual exhaust. It's simply dual outlets. True dual exhaust has independent exhaust all the way from the heads to the tips.
