Ive been contemplating this for a bit now.. With all the issues with KR and expense trying to mod a S/C, Is this a good , easier and cheaper alternative? I realize the kit is almost $3k, plus the addition of rockers, springs, tune, and a rebuilt "built" tranny etc etc, but alot of ppl are telling me this is the way to go.. On GPs at least .. And since Ill be looking at 3k with just the addition of headers, rockers, springs, IC, and labor anyways , this has me interested.

Thoughts

I HIGHLY doubt it's bolt in for a Bonneville. Very little ZZP makes is. For a daily driver, it's a little too extreme...

My idea for DD was hanging out the window after the ride in the GTP today.. :)

SO many decisions.. Maybe a WS6 is in the picture.. After being on these forums and the gtp ride today, Im getting a little triger happy on speed again :bwoohoo:

Youll still be dealing with KR, any boost does that.

I'm sure there would be a few small differences, but I don't see why it can't be made to work.

But the computer that comes with the kit is programed for a GP, so that would be the bigest difffrence. I've been thinking about it to, but no one to reprogram a computer for my car. If you can find someone, then there should be no mayor problems.

Yea. I'm so indecisive now. I don't know what to buy. Or mod. Ive always wanted a vette but the body I like ( c6 ) would be bone stock for the next 5 yrs til I pay it off. Or et some extra$$. If I find a nix rust free gtp I might consider it.

A Vette is a totally different beast than even a modded 3800.

Turbos are fun  You'd be very near the top of the quickest Bonnevilles once it's dialed in.

Not the easist project and its as expensive as it gets for these cars. Is it good? That depends on your goals for the car. I would suggest you do a lot of research first. If you buy new it will really cost a lot, you can get some of this used and save some money. You should be able to buy a complete kit with the IC for around 3K or so. No headers, kit comes with plogs. You better take into account a built transmission also with at least a 7/8 chain. As far as fitting I don't think there is much diffference from a GP.

Is it fun? Oh yeah.

Here is something to think about:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Buick_V6_e ... percharged

Series III (260HP)

The Series III motors include many changes. The upper intake manifold is now aluminum on the naturally aspirated models. Intake ports are mildy improved, 1.83" intake valves (instead of 1.80" as on Series II) and 1.52" exhaust valves were introduced in 2003 engines, just before switching to Series III. Electronic throttle control is added to all versions, as is returnless fuel injection. Stronger powdered metal sinter forged connecting rods are used in 2004+ supercharged, and 2005+ naturally aspirated engines, instead of the cast iron style from Series II engines. Emissions are also reduced. In 2005, it was the first gasoline engine in the industry to attain SULEV (Super Ultra Low Emissions Vehicle).

Also note that Series III engines are the base for any 3800 produced for the 2004 year and up. This means the same block, heads, & connecting rods apply to any remaining Series II engines made after 2004 also. The difference is that Series III engines received the new superchargers (Generation 5 - Eaton m90 - if equipped), intake manifolds, fuel systems, and electronics.

Good Luck!

oldman, what does your post have to do with the OP? He was asking about a turbo, and you post from wikipedia about the Series III. Not connecting those dots. Please don't post unless you have advice or questions of your own relating directly to the OP's question.
