No. The 3900 is a 60* V6, based off of the 2.8/3.1.

The 3900 is a 60*, that uses a larger block then the 2.8-3.1, More or less a Chevy V6

The 3800 is a 90* Buick V6..

Good info. Thanks. Is it in the family of the 3.4? She is a quick car but will not beat the bonnies. Handles and stops better (18" rims/4-wheel disc). Good looking car. I would guess no aftermarket parts available.

Not to thread jack, but I share a similiar question.... GM ended the 3800 if I am not mistaken, but is there a newer version of it on the roads today in the new cars?

Think about it. You’re tooling down the road in your Prius, knowing full-well that this thing being green is as big a sham as federally mandated ethanol-enriched gas, Russia pulling out of Ukraine, and Obamacare.

Anything available for the G6 will work for the Malibu as far as engine and chassis goes. I believe HP Tuners also supports the PCM in your car.
