So I was just talking with my sister and she says that her 2000 Impala has somehow taken on water inside the car. It did rain where she was, but the doors were all locked and the windows were all up. Has anybody here had anything similar to this?

Does it have a sunroof? If not, check all weatherstripping, window seals, etc.

It does have a sun roof.

Could be the sunroof lines leaking, like is common on the 00+ bonneville.

If that's the case, should she notice water like on the seats, headliner and floor? From what I understood it was on the passenger front seat and on the floor in front of the seat.

Not sure, never experienced the leaks myself. I'd take a good look at any seal or place that water could get in.

Just talked to her again. Water is only on the floor infront of the front passenger seat.

Sounds like the passenger door watershield may be leaking, or possibly the sunroof drain lines. On the 2000+ Bonnevilles, the drain lines can become disconnected behind the dash and leak into the footwell area.

Alright, I'll pass that on. How does she tell whether it would be the drainline for the sunroof and the watershield for the door?

Here's the H-body sunroof drains discussion

Here's the door sealing plastic layer problem discussion

Not sure how identical the W-body Impala will be, but there should be some helpful info there...
