I have a 96 Park Avenue NA. When I turn on the AC is blows cold only from the lower vents at first and then after about 5 mins or so then it will blow from the other vents. Can anyone tell me where to start ?

Check the refrigerant levels using a can with a gauge from a parts store. Then monitor it, and if it's low again, you probably have a leak.

I don't know if the 96 is the same, but the 97+ has optional climate control that uses a bunch of sensors to figure out which vents to use for maximum effectiveness. Mine will always start with the floor vents, then open the dash vents once it starts blowing cold after a couple minutes.

This isn't a refrigerant problem if it's blowing cold from any of the vents, Beast.

I'm with Brian, this is likely an issue with the ECC. If the car is not equipped with ECC, then I would start looking for a vacuum leak in the HVAC system.

I have checked vacuum all the way to the firewall. I have vacuum at that point. I have not been able to disconnect anything at the programmer. I dont want to pull too hard and break something.

I have pulled the lines at the actuators for floor and middle and nothing changes. There doesnt seem to be any vacuum at the actuators, but then again that would be default if programmer is bad...correct ?

My point was that unless this is a new behavior, it may not be an actual problem. Mine does this by design, although it usually doesn't take five minutes.

Well, now it it just blows only from floor & def. So i am thinking it must be a vacuum issue at or in the programmer.

Yes, this a fairly recent problem, been doing it on and off for a few months.

When I get a chance I will pull the programmer and take a look.
