This weekend we decided to call an audible and go on a road trip. The original plan was to take the STS, but I wanted to save gas money if I could, so we loaded everything into my Camaro instead.

Total trip for us was a little under 1,850 miles. We left the Detroit area, dropped the dog off at the wife's parents house. Then by way of Green Bay (the wife is a Packers fan) we headed out to Minneapolis, MN. We had to stop at the Mall of America to see what that was all about, then stopped for the evening to hang out at a birthday party. From there we headed to St. Cloud so I could grab some bike parts another club member had been holding on to for me. We then attempted to make the Mackinac Bridge before sunset, ended up missing it by a few hours so only got to see it in the dark. From there we headed back to get the dog, and finally back home.

The big surprise? The Camaro averaged 30.5mpg during the trip, the best stretch being 33.6mpg traveling from Minneapolis to the bridge; 467 miles at 63-67mph with some stop and go through the handful of small towns along the route. The killer though was the lack of working cruise control. At one point I was beginning to wonder if the gas gauge was broken, especially since it's got a cam, headers, no cats, etc. My previous best was 27mpg, and my daily commute averages around 23, so to see nearly 34 was nuts!

Sorry you had to go to green bay... You might want to take a shower and get the stupidity and "hillbilly" off of you. :)

You may want to reconsider the wife too. ;)

Soldier Field is hallowed ground. Other things/teams/events play there besides our minor league football team. At least it's not a big green eyesore like Lambeau used to be... A field on top of a hill, at the corner of Lombardi and Oneida in the middle of parking lots.

Took another 400 mile trip in the Camaro yesterday (for work...), yet again pulled off 33.4mpg!

Went to Louisville, round trip. 33.4 on the (400 miles) way down, 33.3 on the way back. That's about 3mpg better than the '17 Fusion titanium gets on that same trip. I still can't believe it's not a fluke.
