Spent a very wet morning at Wheels Day today, which returned to the Rushmoor Arena near Aldershot. Much lower turnout than in previous years. Entries were limited this year due to traffic issues, but the weather kept many away. Still plenty to see though - here's a selection...

Cool. :rr:

This Olds, though, looks like a 55-57 rather than a '54. Quite reminiscent of a 55 or 56 Chev. Maybe Chevy "stole" the body style from Olds?

Nice pics again Simon.
My entry application wasn't picked so I didn't go this year.
I know the Aussie Falcon well, it belongs to someone in the same car club as me.

I hope the event gets back to as it was before last years debacle, The guys at Surrey Street Rodders put a lot of time and effort into putting the show on, and get very little thanks for their efforts.

Roger.

^ That Falcon was great. The first E-series Falcon I had ever seen in the UK. I sprung on them with a camera when they were still in the car!

The irony is they limited entries to 500 cars and because of the rain I don't think anything close to 500 turned up, so there was plenty of empty space on the showfield. But yes, SSR are to be commended for going ahead with the event. It was still an enjoyable event and was worth going.

I didn't even bother applying as a exhibitor as I was under the impression it was going to just be the creme de la creme that got picked!

I can confirm that the Olds was a '54. Here's a '55 for comparison:

The Oldsmobile body was new for '54 I believe, then facelifted for '55 and '56.

Yep. Looks like Chevy copied the 54 Olds for 55. Take a look at a 54 Chev compared to a 54 Olds - much different. Then compare a 55 Chev to a 54 Olds, remarkably similar - roofline and glass in particular. I had not known that. In fact, it appears Buick and Olds changed for 54 and Chevy & Pontiac waited a year.
