This is my first post it might as well be about racing.

Well i went to the track on firday 8/1/08 and while i did run with the engine temps in the 200 degree mark i think it was a bit slow? I have a bone stock 97 ssei with about 93,XXX miles on it. It ildes perfect and no missfires at all. I want to get base numbers before modding it.

Well my best time was a 15.792@88.90mph I forgot to turn off the traction control as well FTL. but that was after i let it cool off for about an hour. before that i was running 16.1s and such, basicly same MPH though. Im getting about 6psi. What is normal for the bonnieville with the L67? I want to run it again later this year when its COLD! im sure i may pick up 2 tenths or something, but i was really hoping to see 15.2s or maybe a 15.0 with MPH closer to 90 MPH.

OUCH! You should EASILY be a 14.8-15.0 car completely stock. Something is definitely wrong! :bluetwitch:

ohh nooooo hmm

you know what i do see oil seeping from the lower half of the supercharger... i hope im not getting a slight boost leak from the LIMG..... i just fix my valve cover gaskets due to oil leaking on my manifolds. the thing would reak after driving 5 minutes alone! i guess ill have to fix that and go at it.. also i swear this should get about 8psi stock? or am i wrong.

any tips on common problems with the L67 performance issues. Ill check KR and see whats going on there. i have a scanner in my garage. just a MT2500 so i can see some real time stuff.

Yup, you should be at least a 15.1-15.2 in street trim with no track prep.
With track prep, but no mods you should be able to pull a 14.9 if it is in excellent running condition.
Also, practice your launches -seems you are spinning too much -even TC can't cover a full throttle stab from a stop.

For track prep:

lower front tires to 21-23 psi
Inflate rear tires to 60 psi (deflate to proper pressure before hitting public roads)
Trick ELC
remove spare tire, carpet and jack from trunk
Remove lower rear seat, floor mats and all personal belongings from passenger compartment
Move both front seats as far forward as possible (drivers only until you are starting to feel cramped)
Remove drivers headlamp

Track prep is a subjective term. I don't remove anything from my car that I run with daily. Nobody at WCBF ever takes out more than the spare and jack. We like to have a parallel between what we run at the strip and on the street.

I run with a full interior always. I DO trick my ELC, and I suggest 25psi in your front tires if you don't know how they handle lower pressure. Some tire designs are ok lower, some are not. Losing a tire at track trap speeds sucks.

Your valve covers have no effect on performance. Most of the time, a leaky nosedrive on your SC won't either. Unless you have a boost leak into the gear housing on the SC, and even then, it's not going to affect you much. The pressure can force out fluid, but that's usually the intermediate rotor seals, which you can't replace without a factory jig. You'll need a new (used) supercharger or set of rotors to fix that IF it's the cause of the leak.

Well, he did say this was his first time out to the track. I'm willing to bet the slow times are mostly inexperience.

Get a few more track days under your belt, and that half-second will fall off.
