We have our next road trip planned.......well, sort of.

The only thing planned so far is destinations and dates. When I get off work the morning of the 6th, we are heading for Celina, Ohio to see our daughter Megan. From there we are going to Winston-Salem, North Carolina to see our other daughter Alicia. Leaving there we are going to Ocala, Florida to see my parents and brother. Then we start the return to Oregon to be home around the 30th.

All the other trips we have taken were for other reasons (funerals, college graduations, etc) and this will be our first with no time constraint. We have done the flying and driving before and really enjoyed the time together on the road. If it takes us 2 weeks to get to Ohio, then so be it.

We will be taking Wendy's Honda Accord (gotta give them a little credit) since we are getting 32 mpg on the highway with it. I do expect it to drop a little once we hit the higher elevations and having it loaded. It does lack in the power department, but I can deal with it.

As it gets closer, I will update and hopefully get to meet a few members along the way and have some good pictures to post.

Maybe we can actually get together this time

Sounds like a great road trip, I love driving myself also even though it takes much longer.

After the few times of driving and flying, you save time flying, but then there is all the headaches of luggage check in, delays, waiting to board, layovers, buying too much and shipping it back etc.

Driving is load the car the night before, gas it up, pack the cooler and hit the road as soon as the sun comes up and drive until we see something interesting or need to pee.

Yeah, Ryan, hopefully we can work something out. Even if it is to meet up for lunch or dinner.

We usually end up south of Chicago. We usually try to avoid that and Gary. I normally cut a few back roads and catch I-65 to Ft Wayne and then to Ohio. That doesn't mean we won't hit Chi town. I did almost 2yrs in the Navy there in Great Mistakes, but the wife has only been there once for a dance competition with our daughter.

Like I said, I will keep you updated.

I have no problem meeting up somewhere. :)

Lots of time to plan still though.

Matt, I know you guys usually cut through CO and that area, but if you find yourself coming through MN, you know we all gotta meet up for lunch or something. Also, from MN, I-35 to 280 (IIRC) in Iowa, down through the Quad Cities and then down through Peoria, etc is a great drive.

Well, looks like plans may be changing. We will be taking the truck. Just found out our daughter in NC is expecting and we will be hauling a lot of baby stuff to her.

Nice! Congrats on grand-baby #2!! Either way, if you come this way I'd love to buy you a sandwich and/or a beer.

Well, keep in contact with Will, he will keep us in the loop here. I'm terrible at following these types of things.

I'd rather see a 2500HD tan an accord. :p

The time has come. We departed today around noon and just checked in to the motel in Twin Falls, Idaho. Three hours tomorrow and we will be in Layton , Utah at my aunt's. Not sure if we are spending a night there or not. That will be decided tomorrow.

Have a safe trip Matt! I completely understand about the wife not wanting you to stop and see members haha. When I went to Chicago (given we didn't have any time to meet up with anyone even if I wanted to), but my wife though I was a complete weirdo for wanting to meet up with Will and Carl lol.

I would say maybe when you come through GA to head to FL (if you're even going that way) maybe I could meet up depending on my work schedule, but where I'm at is pretty far out of the way compared to where you need to go to head to FL.
