So this past Sunday I went up to Brampton to the Powerade Centre to spectate and photograph some of the competitors... one of my buddies with a 1997 Mazda Miata and one of my profs with a 1991 Isuzu Stylus.

Friend's Miata...
Image

R32 Skyline GT-R
Image

Supercharged Civic. At the last event he was the fastest car of the day.
Image

Old Z
Image

Old Lotus
Image

Old Supra :D
Image

VW Scirocco... obscenely fast.
Image

240SX
Image

C6
Image

This Miata was running an EATON M90!!! And it definitely showed.
Image

"4x4" Civic
Image

One of two identical *red* Solstice GXP's there that day.
Image

This Impreza WRX STi broke his gearbox after a handful of runs... he had to have at least 400-500hp.
Image

New CTS
Image

Another guy I know... competing with his friend's car.
Image

Yes, a Cavalier! Very modified (3.1) and very fast, with a skilled driver it's consistently among the top in its class.
Image

Mini
Image

Another Old Z

1.8L Festiva
Image

New WRX STi :ack:
Image

My teacher's Stylus doing the tripod - he does this EVERY turn.

Stylus

Unfortunately... after tripodding these rims with racing tires on them for about 10 years, they had enough and let go around the spokes:

Scary thing seeing him get passed by his own wheel... I've ridden along in the Stylus several times and he's quite the awesome driver, always the winner of his class

Oh man! I haven't seen a Stylus in YEARS. Kinda like the "big brother" of the Geo Storm GSi.

OK, the "tripod" pic is cooler than heck. Looks like your teacher needs to invest in some better wheels...

The local Honda/Acura Driver's Association is hosting this year's series... often times other clubs will take turns running it, last year it was a Mazda club. Any car can show up, each driver pays $30 (includes lunch) and they can run.

Next one is August 9th!

And before anyone says that the Bonneville might not be suited for autocross... here's an example of a guy who shows up pretty often, an Impala SS converted up to look like an Oldsmobile Custom Cruiser *sedan*:

That's the spot! and yes, that's an event going on! Come out next time and let's hear some whine going on  Or the G8?!

In the past there were also events at the Bronte GO station out in Oakville, but they since started offering Sunday train service so the Powerade Centre is the prime place now.
