Attended a show at Newbury Racecourse in Berkshire at the weekend. I even got the chance to display my Bonneville... here it is next to a Triumph Stag:

There were a few American cars present, but mine was the only Pontiac.

Heres a few more photos from the show...

Those are some amazing cars. Looks like those shows are a great time. Does the Bonnie get a lot of attention?

The Bonneville got a fair bit of attention, although not as much as if it was an older car I think.

Very cool cars! And very clean Bonneville, though I just can't get used to the marker lights on the front quarters lol.

Cheers! :beerchug:

if I get to any other shows I will post pictures. It probably won't be for a while though as the show season has been and gone. There is one that I know of on new year's day though, which I'm looking forward to.

Saturn Simon And Rusty Roger.....

Do you guys see many North American cars on the road over there? Or are they still pretty rare?

Great pics Saturn!!
for me anyway some of those old Brit cars look "unique"

no Reliant Robins?

Well.... some North American cars were and are imported and sold through regular dealer networks, Mopar Neons and PT Cruisers sold well, there is a lively PT Cruiser owners club here. Chrysler 300s sell in modest quantities and full size pick ups are a fairly common sight on our roads too, Ford and Dodge seem to be the most popular.
Cadillacs, Camaros and Corvettes are available new through specialist Vauxhall (British arm of GM) dealers, only in lhd though as are the trucks.

American cars used to be sold off by American servicemen returning to the USA, this is reflected in the disproportionate amount of Camaros/Firebirds, Mustangs, Mopar muscle and other young mans cars you see over here.

At one car show I went to in the '90s over 6000 American cars came through the gate, it used to be the biggest American show outside the USA, now that accolade goes to the Vasteras Power Meet in Sweden.

Reliant stopped making cars years ago, I'll see if I can dig up some pics.

Roger.

Yep, Reliant ceased production in 2001 IIRC.

Not quite... The Cadillac CTS is available in the UK in RHD, as is the STS. They are sold though seperate dealers this time round.

The Corvette and Camaro will shortly be sold by Chevrolet dealers. Previously the Corvette was sold by selected Vauxhall dealers from 1998-2002, and by Cadillac dealers (there were only 4 Cadillac dealers in the country, last time I checked!) from 2005 until now.

Some Chrysler products have certainly been successful in this country - mainly the PT Cruiser, Grand Voyager, and 300C. RHD Dodges were available here for a short while - the Caliber, Avenger, Journey, and Nitro.

I stand corrected Simon.

I forgot to mention the Jeep even though I owned one (what a gas guzzler!).

To turn the question around; any European cars in North America not sold through regular dealers?.

Roger.

Nice show! Bonnie looks great as always Simon!
I'm guessing no Reliant Robins made it because they all were late getting there and flipped too many times to be able to make up any time...

Jeep. Yes, good call! Most Jeep models are a fairly common sight on our roads.

I know the Fiat 500 is sold by Chrysler dealers in the US.

I read somewhere that when Morris Minors were exported to North America the door locks only had a keyhole on the right door. So to gain access to the car the passengers door would have to be opened (more than likely requiring stepping out into traffic) to unlock the drivers door from inside.
With an attitude like that I'm surprised they managed to sell any cars over there.

Do you have cars privately imported on your roads as one offs?. There was a recent tv series in which British tv presenter Stephen Fry drove round the USA in a London Taxi cab, I wonder how it got there?.

Yes we have some London Taxis here in Ottawa, they are used as handicap taxis, but avail to general public....Not sure who brought them over. Yhe next one I see I will ask.

We also have a RHD london Taxi here that the owner of COGNOS(now IBM) brought over years ago... I think its a early 80s one. he brought it over because he got a ticket for pARKING in a Taxi zone one day. he used it as his personal car.
he also has a WWII spitfire.

we do seem to be getting our share of one offs here RHD Gwagons, skylines , and various other tuner cars.
there is a RHD miata here too... i think its badged as a rio.
