When: Starting Wednesday 6/22 at 6:00pm, ending Monday 6/27 morning

Wednesday (6/22) evening - Early arrivals for the big project cars (after 6:00pm), plan on getting things setup for Thursday.
Thursday - Rust repair 101, L67 swap wiring, setup coin casting.
Friday - Coin casting, prep for the car show
Saturday - 3800 meet, the big bonfire.
Sunday - Relax, possibly get out and either go-cart or disc golf or something like that.
Monay - late departure

Where: https://www.google.com/maps/place/29661 ... -83.330184

Sleeping accommodations: This is mainly a camping affair, so bring a tent, unless it rains in which case floor space is first come first serve. Keep an eye on the weather for 48174, plan accordingly (sleeping in the house on the floor I recommend a pad or something). The two project cars arriving Wednesday get first dibs. There is a spare bedroom available. Anybody who doesn't have or want to camp, we can make arrangements, just let me know.

Showers: Bring your own stuff. I have two bathrooms, the upstairs one is available once my wife is done with it.

Food: I have a grill, you are welcome to use the grill/kitchen, and I'm minutes from several restaurants and fast food places. I plan on getting pizza for the bonfire again, but it also sounds like we will have a smoker available - so bring on the meet ..er, meat! BYOB.

Other: Downriver is a very humid/damp area, with lots of standing water. Bring bug spray, 40% seems to work. It would also be a good idea to keep an eye out for ticks, I've put down a pesticide in the areas around the house so that should help limit them unless you go exploring through the weeds. I haven't seen any yet this year, but it's still a little early. ALSO anybody that has allergies should come prepared. There will be cats, there will be pollen, etc.

Travel to the 3800 meet: Traffic out here can be a pain in the rear end, last year we almost lost a few people (we might have actually lost people, not sure, I had a hard time keeping tabs and never saw them again if they got lost). This year we'll split up into groups of 4. The route to the new site is far simpler, anybody that doesn't already know where it's at or doesn't have navigation will be paired up with those of us who do. I'm looking for an easy rendezvous point just outside the meet so we can all roll in at the same time.

Photos: We're planning to stop on the way back from the 3800 meet to get some group photos. Location is TBD at this point.

Track day: Friday is a good possibility, Milan is the local track, but they appear to have a test and tune on top of another event, so don't expect to get more than 3 runs in. If anybody is interested in going I'll bring either the Bonneville or the Camaro. Both have some time to make up based on last year trap speeds (maybe I'm shifting too slow). I don't expect to do much better this year, the SSEi needs fuel injectors and the Camaro needs driver mod.

I'd like to see if we can get the l67 swap project completed in a day or two, first startup during the meet - and drive it out to the 3800 meet could be a lot of fun!

And I may have another surprise for this years meet - I'm running out of time, so we'll see.

-----------------------

The 3800 meet: 6/25 at the local Gibralter trade center; 237 N River Rd, Mount Clemens, Michigan 48043

To me, doesn't really matter. I will not be bringing my car to the 3800 meet this year (I'm not even sure I'll be be bringing anything, might be doing a ride along). So, I'm good with anything you or the others decide.

Well, I'm currently thinking of hauling the LeSabre to the meet for some major body rust repair demonstration and practice. I have an idea based on pics and videos, but I think tips from the master will greatly help...

Of course, plans can always change.

It is great you are hosting a meet! A certain number of cars are needed to create a meet; with just Bonnys' over time it will be hard to hit critical mass. Inviting all 3800 vehicles may be of benefit as your participation numbers may increase.

Half the people that come don't even have Bonnevilles anymore. I have a Grand Prix and there are some G8's a CTS V a Saab, a Kia, and a Cutlass just to name a few.

Definitely not just a Bonneville meet, it is much more a gathering of friends with an interest in cars no matter what you drive. As Ryan mentioned, half of the people that come don't even have Bonnevilles anymore and are always welcome :beerchug:

Random vehicles at the Michigan meets over the years include a Dodge truck, Mazda RX8, Saab, Impala, Park Avenue, GMC truck, Volvo, G8, Geo, Honda Element, Trans Am Firehawk, Kia Optima, Olds Cutlass, Regal, Grand Prix, and probably a few others I can't think of off the top of my head

To clarify a little, our Bonneville club meets are usually a 3-4 day weekend long meet and inclusive for everyone on the club regardless of what they're driving, as mentioned. The W-Body/3800 only meet is an actual car show separate from our meet, http://www.wbody3800gathering.com/. In the past couple years though our club meet has coincided with the W-Body/3800 meets and we all head out to the meet on Saturday.

As to the question to do this year's meet at the same date as the 3800 meet, Personally I'd prefer the 'all in one meet' due to the distance. That said, if these are separate weekends I'd likely be at both unless they were back to back weekends, haha. I believe Brennan will be making his return to Michigan this year as he picked up that '97 GP GT a month ago and said he would like to go to the 3800 meet with us.

I've had some free time to think about this again. If we are going to have some bigger projects happening this year I thinking the schedule is going to look like this:

Wednesday evening: early early arrivals for the two projects to start getting things setup.
Thursday: Project day #1 - teardown
Friday: Project day #2 - reassembly, prep for car show, possibly another round of coin casting.
Saturday: 3800 meet, bonfire, pizza, beer.
Sunday: Last minute rush to get projects done, then otherwise relaxing. Last year we did a top gear marathon.
Monday: Late departures

I'll keep in touch with the project guys to try and get things prepared ahead of time - including a work space that is dry in case it rains.

I won't be bringing a 3800, so the meet doesn't matter to me either way. I'll be in the truck. Which, sadly, is faster than a lot of stock 3800's....

Ed, block out your calendar now, or Tyrone's long lost brother might have to come get you!

I'm be looking forward to this meet, as I'll have a lot to do and learn!

Also, looks like I won't be taking a ton of pictures at this one, but I figure that shouldn't be a problem, as I'm sure many others will be on it.

After owning 4 Bonneville's, it is probably a good time to go to one of these events.
How can I get more information about either or both events?
I have a beautiful lower mileage '02 SSEi.
She may be car-show worthy.

You would be more than welcome. And no worries on any sort of definition of "car show worthy-ness". They literally had an award last year for the crappiest car, something along the lines of a "I can't believe that car made it here" trophy, lol. So there is a very wide spread from beaters to daily drivers to show cars.

Okay, thank you.

I sort of "gave" my '01 SLE to my 17 year old son.
Maybe I'll talk him into bringing the old gal there too. (247k miles)

Ha.

Hey guys. I have been sort of looking at the 3800 meet myself on Facebook. It seems interesting but extremely Grand Prix heavy. I would be interested in making the drive as it is only 4hrs from my house. I emailed one of the organizer if whether or not my Bonnie would be welcomed, and he basically said if it is 3800 powered, its welcomed. So, I guess what I am saying is if I made my way out it would go something like this: Leave my house 6am. Michigan by 10, hang out until 6pm or so, home by 10pm. So if you folks are doing something separate and I do get out, I would like to meet you guys too wherever you may be.
