LOL Out of my price range Rod!!

I'd need a million dollars to have fun around here!

Resting by the pool right now.

Will do some touring tomorrow and will visit my fav wineriers like Berringer and Mondavi......looking for the $15 bottles.

Thanks for the recommendations.

Crap, just my luck. The hotel we checked into is undergoing renos and is all torn up. What a dump for $200/night!!
Paving the parking lot too!

:sad5:

Left Napa before noon today then a great drive up Silverado Trail to Calistoga for lunch.

It was an awesome drive on hwy 128 thru the canyon to Sacramento. :eek2: My wife crapped her pants a few times.

Arrived at the hotel in downtown Sacramento around 4 pm.

Just finished a little workout in the gym and jaccuzzi now we're going to the wine and beer reception then out to find some good food and discover the downtown core.

Finally some 85F weather!!!

Plan to visit with the Rounds tomorrow. They are nursing their daughter who had an operation on Thursday. Hope all went well Rod. :sad5:

Bill, you have got to travel 128.........but not in a van!

Hey Rod. Just got back from downtown and running a little late.

Had lunch at Joes Crab shack. Great meal of crabs. :beerchug:

Expect us closer to 4pm. Gonna catch a little sun and pool first, then have to find a fill up for my empty Bullet tank.

See you soon.

Great weather here in Sacramento!

Image

I saw 90F on the DIC today leaving Rods after a great Cindy meal!

Thanks a lot for the hospitality. I was driving so Laura got to drink the whine with Cindy!
Not sure if we can go out now but I'm gonna try after I finish a bottle of Provenance Merlot! :beerchug:

The big bike race is tomorrow so I added another night on the Hotel.

Image

Having a fantastic time here in sunny warm California!

My tan is progressing nicely. :)

Filled up after leaving Rods and it only cost $45. Wow, cheap fuel here...........but I had to add the octane booster this time.

A 94 Octane fill in Canada cost me $70 so I didn't feel bad about the $10 booster. ;)

Oh! I forgot about the case of Silver Bullet Ale in the mini fridge. Laura is out cold!!!!
:laughing3:

It was great having Paul and Laura over for dinner and a nice visit. Sorry I couldn't keep Cindy away from the wine. She twisted my arm. Cindy and I really enjoyed the visit, so did Hillary, she shared old pictures with them including one where my beard was about a foot long and coal black no gray like today. We hope to see them again tomorrow since thay are staying another day. And it is nice to see Paul putting some miles on the Bullet. Rod Jr. brought his girl friend over to meet Paul and Laura. I still try to talk Paul into taking more back roads so he can see the real California(you have to get off of the freeways to do that) but he is hesitant to do much of that yet(but he is getting better).

Both Laura and I are in bed sick!

Must have caught something along the way here. Can't eat and anything we have eaten is coming out both ends. :sad5:

Checking out tomorrow............ and heading up to Redding.
The forecast is rain so Bullet is going to get wet. :angry7:

I haven't been this sick in a long time!! Nothing to do with drinking either.

It wasn't a virus. We had food poisoning. It was the "Big Daddy Crabs" at the Crab Shack in Old Sacramento.
Still a little queezy but yesterday was bad. Couldn't eat or drink anything.

It was a bummer cause we missed out on a little cruising with the Rounds.

We left Sacramento this morning for a short trip to Redding and made it here just before a few showers began.

Checked into the Hampton Inn. From the internet reviews it seemed like the best place in the area to stay.
The first room we were assigned, the A/C unit was dead so we were upgraded to the top floor in Room 313.
I remarked on the number but blew it off because I'm not superstitious.

Should have know better.

It was a little cold so my wife went into the closet and removed the blanket from the top shelf.

Guess what fell out.

A used condom!! She screamed and thew the blanket onto the bed. :puke:

There were three used condoms wrapped up in there and they spilled out all over the comforter. :angry4:

:brant:

So we get a free night in Redding. :)

Sort of made up for her shopping at Kohl's a little earlier.

No plans for tomorrow but it looks like we'll be following the rain back north to Oregon.
Better blow up the air mattresses Bill. So far Corvallis has been the highlight of the trip. Don't worry, the Patron is safe cause I don't feel like drinking. :sad5:

Sorry Paul,
but it is not food poisioning, you picked a bug up somewhere. Cindy came down with it Sunday afternoon and I woke up with it this morning. We both had bad headaches as well, felt like my head would split in half when I lifted it off the pillow. Hillary and Rodney are doing just fine, not sick at all (so far). Next time don't take the room with a 13 in the number. But at least I know how to get a free room for the night :dancing: Sounds like somebody had fun in that room.

No Rod. It was food poisoning. Laura is fine now. I still can't eat much. Hit me harder cause I ate most of the crabs. :angry7:

Not sure how far we're gonna drive today. It looks like it's gonna be a wet drive.

Only 6 hours to Corvallis but Bill probably doesn't want me back after I tried to beat his across the intersection.......on foot!
:laughing3:
I'll only stop if he texts me.

Laura likes Roseburg more than Ashland BTW. Better shopping and less touristy.
I didn't mind Ashland except for all the small school kids.

Going down for breakfast to see if I can stomach some juice.

The 6 hour drive went well but somehow my mileage dropped to average 25 mpg. I blame it on crappy California fuel.

Bill is still at work so Laura and I are making ourselves at home here in Corvallis.

Hey hey Bill......we're baaaaack!!

Ya we hit some rain and the Bullet got WET. I'm impressed how well the wipers worked. They are still the original wiper blades.

Bill I noticed some changes. You've been busy as usual. :)

Spent a good night with Bill and Lisa. My appetite has finally returned but not enough to imbibe with Bill.
I left him with 6 bottles of very expensive wine from Napa for my return in July for WCBF10. We can only bring 4 bottles back with us so we'll bring them back in July. Bill and Lisa can pick one of their choice and we'll drink one in July. They averaged $60/bottle.

Oh Bill, Laura forgot the bag of sandals in Katie's room by the door in a plastic bag. We'll get them in July also.
Now you know we're really gonna make it this year.

Thanks again for making us feel at home. You're a real friend. :hail:

We stopped in Burlington Washington at another Hampton Inn. Great place, good location, less expensive than the others in Napa and Sacramento and it has a jacuzzi in the bedroom!

It was a great 5 hour drive. Sunny the whole way up. No cruise control on this run. I was hustling to beat the rain.
We beat it!
Literally!
No sooner than we checked in the clouds moved in and the rain began. If I had gone any slower we would have been in it good.

We burned up I-5 averaging +20 over the limit. Couldn't believe how many patrol cars were out. They were everywhere.
It was the best challenge I've had in a long long time.

Remember in 08 when we got stopped on the same stretch when I inadvertantly passed a bike cop. Well this time I was ready for them. I spotted one in the black diamond lane up ahead and followed well back until he turned off.
:laughing3:

At one point I was dogging an Acura until I became bored at only 10 over so I nailed it and did the old two lane double pass around three others, came up behind a new Caddy at 95 just as the van up ahead blew his retread off!

Unfortunately I was following too close and didn't see it until the last split second.

I ran it over.

HARD! :angry4:
Heard it flap around my right front tire.

Thought it did some damage so just before stopping at the hotel we pulled into a car wash......as usual.... and that bug and tar remover cleaned off the black rubber marks all along one side with ease. Whew!! I was lucky it didn't tear off a mud flap, or worse.

No I did'nt take any pics of it cause I was too distressed and eager to clean it off!! :angry7:

Leaving tomorrow for the 6 hour home stretch. It's actually only 3 hours of driving and the rest is boat rides.

One highlight I will always remember was entering Sacramento on a ten lane highway with all lanes bumper to bumper and everyone was doing 75 mph.
Now I know why there are multi-car pile ups on these freeways!
Nothing is free.....always a price to pay!

Haven't been keeping up. Been way too busy getting the duplex rented out and working long hours at hp.

Paul, we had one in Corvallis for a couple years that had the sushi floating around the bar on little boats. You just grabbed what you wanted, and the plates were color-coded by price. We used to eat lunch there at least once a week. It was about 2 blocks before NAPA on the opposite side of 9th.

Glad you guys made the trip. It was great to see you again, even if we didn't have the time to really play the roles of good hosts.

Give Laura a big beer-breath kiss for me!

EDIT:

Thanks for the bag of sandals. They feel good when they rub on the fungus between my toes. We'll give 'em back at WCBF.
