jovan (SLEighride03) stopped by today for install of a solid mount, went nothing according to plan, did not have the tools i needed, then the bolt was too short, then the bolt was too long, then vibration, then finally, it all worked well while my other frind was calling me from taco bell for my help since he locked his keys in his car and had no idea where the spare set was.....he got them out but, he has yet to tell me how.

i also finished my gxp-like badged trunk, thanks to jovan :)

but now my v6 badge looks outa place compared to the gxp "bonneville", oh well, another thing to fix

the bolt cannot be too long. Insert it from the bottom up, i ahve 3 extra inches sticking off of mine. That's why i said 8"

the eight inch bolt did not make it past flush with the top of the mount

everything is now OK while she's in the garage. It seems that just the top lock nut somehow loosened and unscrewed from the bolt. So I'll send the wife out tomorrow morning to get a few more, then have my mechanic impact them down again.

Some blue loctite might not be a bad idea, either.

well. she's had the mount re-attached and everything is according to plan. I've been told though, because of the type of mount that it is, there will be slight vibrations when driving due to the fact that there is no liquis/soft area of the mount to dampen these little vibes.

Juan, they left both bushings on the bolt. the one from the bottom, and the one up top (even though they said its not noticable now since they tightened the bolt with the washer directly over the top bushing.

had to, the bolt wouldn't thread down to the top of the mount, it's all better now

well, after taking her out on the highway tonight, I've decided that this style mount is not my cup of tea. I was crusing down the tollway, and at 50-60 mph, my car feels(and sounds) like it's riding on BFG 4X4 All-Terrains, which is not good. I'm going to assume that it's the lag of vibration pickup because of the mount's solid properties.

Anyway, went to O'Reilly's tonight and picked up an aftermarket OEM mount made by Anchor Industries, and from what I was told, is far better built than OEM quality ($65), plus a lifetime/no questions asked policy on replacements, so I will be going back to an original type mount.

strike that, reverse it!

Went over to Juan's place today and he (I believe) loosened the top lock nut to expand the bushing a little more, put another lock nut on top of that one, impacted it, now my bonnie runs as smooth as a baby's butt.

Juan if I mistated the above, please clarify. :)

Seems like a lot of trouble for a mount.

You sure you guys weren't drinking?

I hardly notice my solid mount. After about 2 years i need to get some new pucks but besides that it's been problem free.
