Hello, I recently received my first car. A 2003 Bonneville with 119,000 miles on it. The only thing wrong with it is a rust spot under the gas cap which I plan on fixing soon. Does anyone have any starter upgrade ideas for my car? I was thinking about purchasing a Weapon-R Dragon Cold Air Intake to start with. I'm in high school so my budget for aftermarket parts is extremely limited. I don't need racing quality performance just some things to work on in my spare time and increase my knowledge with cars. Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

Hey!, welcome to the club! and congrats on your purchase. I would definetaly go over the common problems/maintenance list before doing any upgrades. Once your ready these two are a good start

Congratulations on a great choice for a first car! and glad to have you join us. Before doing anything further, I suggest some reading if you haven't done that already:

Welcome!

First things first. What is your trim level? Then we can talk about mods.

DO NOT DO THE WEAPON R INTAKE. IT IS CRAP.

Read this: performance-brainstorming/topic25655.html

Biggest thing from that: Figure out what you want. Whether or not you can afford everything at once, figuring out everything that you want to do and what you want. We can help. That way you're not wasting money on parts (like the intake you mentioned) that won't get you the benefit you want/lead to the best end result.

Think about it. You’re tooling down the road in your Prius, knowing full-well that this thing being green is as big a sham as federally mandated ethanol-enriched gas, Russia pulling out of Ukraine, and Obamacare.

If you want a cheap intake, gut the intake box and get a K&N filter for your car.. The box is not perfect but it pulls cold air in from behind the fender.. The only real restriction is in the front of the box.. There are instructions for doing this here someplace...lol

As well 03 is a bit off an odd ball year...lol

Now the question is, Do you know what gear ratio this bonneville has?
