Finally putting the SSEi back together after nearly two years, and I'm finding it tricky to route some things -- throttle cables, vacuum hoses, the usual finicky details. It's nothing two minutes with a camera under the hood of any SSEi couldn't fix, but since I've got the only one in town, I'm getting frustrated -- and the nearest junkyard that might have one is 140 miles away.

Any chance people could take detail shots and post them? Stuff around the transmission, the cluster of bits by the firewall, the hoses, that sort of thing.

I appreciate it.

Here are some pics of a really dirty stock SSEi that needs some love. Let me know if you need more specific

Andrew, those photos both confirmed some of the assumptions I made and gave direction where I was baffled. I mean seriously -- wrapping the cruise control cable around the master cylinder? That was an actual design decision?

Thanks. I should be good from here.

The loop around the MC gives the cable the flexibility it needs if the motor moves around. If it was a straight shot the cables would be under load often.

Yeah, but it just looks weird. Wrapped around the reservoir just looks so... shade-tree.

One last ID request: single wire male connector, passenger side, by firewall. Has a two-foot or so extension, only comes out of the harness a couple inches by the bottom of the engine. No idea what it's for, can't find a sensor or anything in the neighborhood... thought it might be a coolant tank sensor, but once I found the tank in the storage unit, I realized there was no sensor in it. If I can figure out what this is for, I should be able to crank it this weekend. Thanks!

I want to say that's the rear knock sensor.

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner! No wonder I couldn't find it - had to crawl underneath with a flashlight, and it's the car's not too far off the ground. But there's actually clearance to snap it in!

Thanks!
