OK, long story short, the HR6 compressor on my '92 Trofeo is too worn out to charge at idle. If I bump the RPM up to like 1800 it will finally develop a good low side pressure; so I can get a charge in it but I think it's time to replace the compressor.

I want to put a V5 compressor in it, mainly because it has a dedicated oil reservior, but also because that's what I have on hand. It looks like the H-body and F-body compressors are not clocked the same for the suction/discharge to line up. Just by looking at the pictures the V5 has two different size hoses (small and large, I'm assuming that the small is the discharge and the large is the suction). But you can't do the same comparison with an HR6 as both are the same size. So problem 1 is without pulling parts off the car I can't tell which side is which to determine which V5 compressor I'd need.

My thought was to use an adapter block if I could get the housing to line up. I've got enough spare A/C manifolds that I could just chop one of the V5 ones up to make the adapter.

After looking at it some more I think at this point though the better option would be to get a custom hose made up and just bolt on the H-body bracket and compressor. Has anybody done custom A/C work? I just need the manifold and that first section of hose, what about the expansion tank looking thingys?

I found this already:
https://coldhose.com/catalog/product/vi ... tegory/39/

If it's just a matter of getting two hoses made (there are no pressure sensors to deal with on the olds manifold) that wouldn't be too bad.
