Installed new water pump on my 2000SLE yesterday.
The real problem was a leaky gasket but since I was there replaced both the gasket and pump.
I bought the good metal gasket with the rubber seal.
First time I replaced a water pump on it.
Not bad for 269K.(changed out Dex-Cool years ago)
Took us about 2 hours start to finish.
Cannot believe I was quoted a price of $400.00-$450.00 to do this.
Total cost of pump, gasket & antifreeze was about $58.00.
Nice to be able to do some things yourself.

This forum is a blessing for that specific reason. Glad I found this wonderful place.

I can't imagine paying labor for every little thing I've fixed on all of my cars. The internet and car forums really are underrated gems.

I cannot even imagine what one would be quoted on a car there the timing belt would have to come off just to get to the water pump. Such is the case with my corolla.
