Lately, I have been noticing difficulty easily coming by Dexron VI. It seems many manufacturers are starting to make this sort of fluid:
https://www.autozone.com/motor-oil-and- ... 260526_0_0

Keywords typically include "OEM Approved" and "Low Viscosity".

What is happening? What is this stuff? Is it safe to use? Is the licensing up for Dexron VI, and we are seeing the latest iteration of "manufacturers calling it what they want because they can"?

Must be where you're at. No issues here.

I don't care if they say it's "approved by GM", what's important is that it is "Licensed by GM". That means the maker's fluid has actually passed certain GM tests and that they have paid GM to get that license.

Otherwise I can approve anything you want. Does that mean it's good then? Several Tommy Boy scenes come to mind here...

I had a bit of trouble finding Dexron VI, also. Did find some at Advance Auto Parts (not inexpensive) while many of the usual places that used to have it now carry something like this.

As many know, Supertech was the most cost effective solution to get Dexron VI. I suspect that may soon no longer be the case. It seems like it's getting phased out at Wally world, in favor of the universal solutions.

I just ordered 24 bottles, especially at that price.

Weird, when I ordered it, it was $3.59/qt. Now it's $5.14. . .

I think I may have broke it.
