Hello I am new to this page can you guys please help. I have a 05 Bonnie gxp v8 4.6 I've had for about 6 years. I'm having some kind of electric problem with it to were it won't start. When I go to turn the key to start the car, you hear it crank once maybe twice then nothing. I can hear the fuel pump and everything come on, batteries good and I checked all fuses, then the crazy part is when I turn the ignition to the off position in take the key out of the ignition. Everything is still on like I'm trying to still start the car, the speedometer, the fuel pump, everything except the engine. Please help I don't know what is could be, I never had this problem before. Thanks

I'm thinking it's the ignition switch as while. I'll try buying one and changing it over, see if that work. Does anyone know how to switch and program a new ignition switch?

I DON'T think it's the ignition switch. If it power modes the vehicle, energizes the fuel pump, and you get it to at least crank, that means all classII communications are happening, power is being supplied to necessary components, and it cranks a little. If the ignition switch doesn't work, none of that happens...

I guess, can you clarify that last part about stuff being on after you shut the switch off? Is it just a momentary thing, which could be ok? Or is it that you turn it off, walk away, read war and peace, and it's still on?

When you say the battery checks out, are you just measuring that it has sufficient static voltage? Meaning you're hooking up a multi-meter and getting ~12 volts? That's only one part. A load test will determine if there are bad cells and if there is actually enough amperage to turn the engine over. If you have bad cells, you won't have sufficient amps to do that. and that leads to this.

I checked the battery with a multi-meter and I was getting 12 volts from that. But thats about all I did with checking the battery. I always have a jump box on the battery when I'm trying to start it because the car's components will literally stay on with the key out of the ignition until I disconnect the battery. When I re-connect it with the key out, everything is off intil I try to start it again. It will crank a couple times then nothing. When I turn it off in take the key out all components stay on. It might turn off by itself when I take the key out after a couple tries of trying to start it and dis-connecting and re-connecting the battery. But for the most part all components will just say on.

Sounds like a power mode mismatch in the Dash Integration Module (DIM). I believe the DIM handles all power moding on Bonnevilles. Perhaps a bad ground in that.
