Just wondering if anyone knew the reason for switching from the 78 series batteries in the '92-'99 Bonnevilles to the 100 series in the '00-'05 Bonnevilles. From the specs on both, it looks like the 78-DlG is a better battery than the 100-DLG. Thanks - BC

Not sure, just guessing, but did they switch because of the venting differences between the two group sizes? The 100 group size has a location to attach tubing to vent remotely so the gas build up doesn't go into the passenger compartment. Where most 78s will vent out the caps on the top. The delco 78s might have the place to attach vent, but I don't think Exide, or JCI batteries do. They just dissipate the hydrogen gas to the atmosphere.

I've never seen a 100-DLG that I'm aware of, so your explanation makes sense. Thanks - BC

I think we are talking about a group 78 vs a group 79.. some of the 87-mid 90's bonnevilles used a group 75, others used a group 78..

for the 00+ group 78 was the norm, group 79 was the HD battery..
