Ok, here’s a wonderment question for you G8 weenies. I was playing in a G8 over the weekend and I couldn’t quite figure out the sunroof switch. Instead of a button, it’s a dial. I figured out that pushing the dial in will make the roof move, but what are the different “dots” on the bezel around the switch for? I thought maybe they were for how far the glass would open (or close) with a press of the button but that didn’t seem to work.

Counter-clockwise from centre = tilt (3 levels)
Clockwise from centre = open

Each dot is how far you want it tilted/opened. Don't quote me on this, but for 2008-2009 models, you don't have to press the dial for the roof to do its thing (unless you turn the dial with the key off, then turn the car on). For 2009.5, you need to press in for every operation. Pick center to close.

Seems like a typical European style sunroof switch, I know VW does the same thing.

I've heard some later 2009 models (not quite 2009.5 yet) you have to push in. I find pushing it (Will's GXP for example) kind of annoying, as I like to turn mine and forget it.

08 and early 09 = Turn to desired position and forget it. If you press the switch while it's moving, it'll stop where it is.

Later 09 = Turn to desired position and press/hold till it gets there.
