Made the G8 sound more like it should... Removed the stock mufflers of death and put on Solo Axlebacks.

While it is a definite improvement, I can't say I'm totally happy. They make an extremely mellow, low tone. I wish it had a little more rasp or throaty'ness. But the only way to do that is start removing the other set(s) of resonators further upstream and/or adding an X pipe and I'm not sure I really want to do that. This isn't my racekar.

Replaced the front 2 sub frame bushings (finally, did the other 4 a month or so ago).
replaced the rear transmission mount (torn into two pieces).
replaced the front brake hoses (were too short after installing the SS Camaro brakes a while back and the tires were rubbing on them in the turns and starting to wear through the steel braiding)

still have more to do, but I guess a chase is a race when it comes to fixing this thing back up to snuff from the neglect by the previous owners.

me, I like the low mellow tone. Not into the raspy thing, but them, I'm glad not everyone likes the same thing I do. - BC

Fixed the winter beater today (the 2008 DTS with an LD8). A few days ago, I filled it with gas. Almost immediately it started to run rough at idle, but would smooth out if I increased the RPM. It's very unusual to get bad fuel nowadays, but the timing seemed very coincidental. Well, that's all it was... a coincidence.

I connected Ye Olde Tech2 and watched as the misfire graph filled the screen on cylinder 6. I pulled the plug, which looked fine. At this point the easiest next step was to swap the coil with one on a neighbouring cylinder. Sure enough, when I swapped 6 and 8, the problem followed the coil.

I found a 2009 STS with an LH2 (very surprisingly) at the local Pick-N-Pull. Since it uses the same coils, I grabbed the entire bank of four. My cost at GM was just over $140 CAN/coil (retail here is quite a bit more). For the price of $49.39 including taxes and "environmental fees" (not sure what that means on a used electrical part), the DTS is running perfectly and I have three extra coils for the shelf. Overall, very happy!

I attempted to swap the stereos between the two cars. I got the pioneer into the Passat and that is all good now. I went to put the blaupunkt touchscreen stereo in the GTO but apparently I don’t have screws to mount it to the dash kit and Home Depot is closed so I guess I can quit for the day and finish in the morning.

It's springtime, and this means that my winter car, and my mom's all-year-around vehicle go in for their annual detailing this week. In preparation, I've vacuumed the carpets and done some interior cleaning. They'll do it all again, but I can't take in dirty vehicles to the detailer. That just wouldn't be right.

Changed the battery in the Passat. It finally had enough and wouldn’t start the car after a day of sitting.
Also pulled a rocker panel off the GTO because the floor got wet after the last rain. Thankfully no water came out so it isn’t so bad. Going to tend to sealing up the holes from the factory in the wheel wells today if it stops raining.

changed both front wheel bearings/hubs...ABS isn't angry anymore (driver side hub was gritty/rough when turning it by hand after removal...passenger was still ok...put that up as a backup. also when clearing the abs codes got a new code (woohoo) for a faulty steering position sensor (guess I'll be buying one of those in the future, how soon depends on how much it annoys me)...it's always something with this car....good thing I love it or I'd probably have traded it off by now.

Installed rear air shocks and also shock mounts on the white 2005SLE.
One of the mounts was shot and was making a clunking noise.
Car rides great now.
Big difference.

Ceramic coated the GTO. And now it’s raining so it’ll get tested out.

Please report back on how the Ceramic coating works.
I have thought of it but nor sure if it really works.
Thanks.

Ask and you shall receive. Gave the car a wash and the GoPro was dead so I took a video with my phone.
https://youtu.be/hbvmG7WqXNA

This stuff is amazing, I got the Adam’s polishes spray ceramic coating, as I don’t have the patience for traditional ceramic coatings. It’s so good I’m going to do my daily soon.

Installed OE Coil Packs yesterday to completely eliminate the ZZPs before another one fails.

Also put in a new Air Filter and Cabin Air Filter.

Hopefully I can get my rear brakes done later this week.

I took the exhaust off the GTO and had Matt weld it together instead of clamps. Now it doesn’t leak anymore. However now it vibrates the car when it’s idling. Gonna have to check into that one and then the car will be completely all set

How much you wanna bet it's the mufflers rattling against the heat shield above them. There isn't a lot of room there.
