I used to work in a warehouse that was a distributor for a lot of the well known chain stores. Old tires aren't too uncommon, and some of them in the warehouse had been around long enough for the sticker to dry rot off of them. You'd be amazed at the way the tires are handled too...

Oh wow, this is good info that I never heard of. I just bought tires yesterday too. I will have to check them tomorrow.

I don't believe this has ever been 100% validated, but holds true in theroy for how rubber reacts to the elements over time.

Kinda scary when you think about it.... what looks to be a new tire could be just as bad for your safety as one with the tread worn off.

In my 15 years of driving I have blown 2 tires, run on flat ones a few times, and had one rom/tire fly off in a curve. Luckily none of them happended about 35mph or so.

I had a wheel come off my old GMC Jimmy. They were 33" tires. I think someone was trying to steal a rim/tire and I interrupted them. I drove home and it felt like the bottom fell out, and next thing I know there goes my tire and wheel down the road without me. :angry4: :angry4: :angry4:
