How do you guys install mufflers? clamp or weld?
I was looking into a magnaflow muffler and want to weld it and a polished tip in place of the crappy looking stock crap. 2000 SE btw.
Can anyone tell me what kind of MIG wire you use(d) and the results. Different wire for tip to muffler, muffler to intermediate pipe? any help would be appreciated. I'll try to post pics when finished.

Crappy looking stock crap, hah.

Its always better to weld. Clamps are ALRIGHT and I've personally had good luck with them, but you can guarantee no exhaust leaks with a good weld.

Not a welder, so can't help yah any further.

just calling it like I see it. I like to weld because its better than clamping and it would look more like a factory install but I don't know what kind of wire to use. The local welding supply place said I needed inconel wire for welding 400 to 400 stainless at over $50 a pound just to weld on a muffler(B.S.) I'll use J.B.Weld before I buy that!

What muffler are you looking to get? Going for the dual exhaust look?

no just single. I thought about that but didn't want to add the extra weight. the part # for the muffler is 11226 and the tip is 35205 both are magnaflow pcs.

Band Clamps do a nice job.....http://store.summitracing.com/egnsearch ... 4294809641

...slab a lil muffler cement on the pipes before you slide the joints together if you do a lap setup and measure TWICE before before you order/buy your clamps to make sure you get the right size.
