Since most of the OE compressors bite the dust due to over use by blown out blatters of air struts, Could you use a Viair compressor to replace the stock unit? Has anybody done this or seen it done?
Would it be a safe bet to even make the rear end a "adjustable" unit with dual onboard air gauges, compressor, tank etc?
I've looked at mine, and it's shy of sh1tting the bed, dry rotted lines, barely working when the level mechanism is activated etc. Rear air struts looks like barnacle is growing on them, which this is on my "to replace list" anyway.
I've also seen threads on here where people has taken the red Airlift "helper" sleeves and installed them, could this be another route?
Why I ask is I have a sub box that takes the majority of the trunk up with just one l7 Kicker 12, with amp and all kinds of spare tools in case of any emergency which adds up to quiet a bit of weight. Now having said that, I also roll 20's which evertime I go over something, like a bridge joint, the rebound of that alone squats my rear end and scrubs my tires. I don't want to get rid of my 20's as they make the car pretty much, I rolled the inside lip of the fenders to also and eliminate some of the problem. So hopefully there is a solution... :
