Since winter has set in, I haven't actually tested my cars MPG in several months. My trip has reset from hitting 1000 miles 4 times, meaning I have not reset my DIC in about 4500 miles. Today while driving to school and sitting at a light, I switched over to the "average MPG" setting. Over the course of the 4500 miles, I would say about 85% of my driving is city with short 3-5 mile trips. My car has remote start, so it always runs for about 3-5 mins before driving to let everything get warmed up.

To my surprise, the DIC showed 21.7 MPG, which I was very surprised and pleased with. Generally the DIC is conservative by about .5 MPG when I have tested it before, so even considering 21.2 MPG for winter driving under my circumstances (and winter blended gas) I'm very pleased with.

Just wanted to post my pleasant surprise....that's all! haha

My mileage has tanked, letting it idle (remote start), winter gas, and my driving lately has played a role in that... D'oh!

My mileage is actually slightly better than that, but it's also been super mild around here, and I've been uber paranoid about it now too, lol.

41-42 mpg here, lol. Most of that is 20+ miles 1 way doing 50-60 on 2 lane highways. It was 46-47 in warmer weather.

I am only averaging 15-17 mpg. My trans am gets better mileage than that and it has an LS2 6.0L

Getting around 22 - 23 in the SSEi and about 14 in the Z71

That mileage isn't bad at all for the weather and your driving Eric!

Just trolling your thread! :beerchug:

21 mpg in winter for short trip driving is pretty good for a big ol' V6 powered car without any fancy VVT, DI, cam phasing, or other electro/mechanical wizardry on the engine.

Agreed. This coming from a guy whose car now has dual independent VVT, a DBW throttle, a computer-controlled turbo, and a "smart" alternator (nothing like seeing 12.5V cruising down the highway, thinking the alternator's failed, then realizing it's being "smart"), among other modern "whiz" technologies. Dog help me when the sensors take a dive on it all...

I'm guessing the OP is a pretty gentle driver most of the time.

Yes, he is, I can vouch for that. He also doesn't yet know how to handle the power of M90 induced torque steer.

You'll never let him live that down will you? :P

Anyways... Depending on the day.. I get 19?? Although given recent events which require me to unload on something, I've managed.... WAIT FOR IT............ 11.

Since Christmas, I've averaged 14.6. This is mostly city driving, in fact probably 90% city driving, and I have a heavy foot lol.

Still 24-25.

Less mileage overall because of winter gas, but my winter tires are a touch taller than stock. I'm also not driving hard much with the winter... until it snows and I'm drifting around corners!

You've also done a huge refresh to your engine.

This is true. I drive the car pretty easy, only achieving about 16-17% throttle under acceleration until I wanna hear my exhaust! Having bald tires on the car makes acceleration pulls not so fun since it just spins....

Will - I can handle the abuse of torque steer, it was pretty comical!

I got onto the Cruze pretty well tonight, and still got 45 mpg coming back from skiing. 19 PSI after 3000 RPM makes it quick! Too bad the speed limits are set at 65 mph around me, since it's only finding its legs at 65 when I had to back off. No torque steer since it got designed out pretty well. Nail the gas, wait for a second, then get pushed back harder than an economy car has any right to do. Boost is addictive!

I haven't noticed an improvement over summer figures, but I haven't seen the usual drop in mpg over winter. Mine has stayed at 26 Imperial MPG (roughly US 22mpg I think).
