I have an '87 Olds Delta 88 Royale Brougham.

I thought it would be easy to locate road test reports, performance figures etc, it seems I was wrong.

Anyone on this forum able to help?, I guess it won't make much difference which badge is on the car, although trim levels might vary somewhat.

Thanks in anticipation;
Roger.

I have a good reference book for older cars - the Guinness Current Car Index (in assoc with Autocar & Motor magazine), published in 1992. It doesn't have figures for your exact model, but the 1987 Pontiac Bonneville SE is listed, which is virtually the same car (same H-body, same engine and transmission. Figures for your model would be virtually identical.

Stats for 1987 Bonneville SE:

3791cc, OHV V6.
Compression ratio: 8.5:1
Power: 150bhp @ 4400rpm
Torque: 200 lb ft (271 Nm) @ 2000rpm
Top speed: 120mph
0-50mph: 6.8 secs
0-60mph: 9.7 secs
0-1/4 mile: 17.3 secs
Economy: 22.2 Imp mpg (18.5mpg US) - Note: In reality it's easy to beat this. My '88 Bonneville managed 25mpg Imp.

I can't guarantee its accuracy, but that's what I have. Hope this helps.

Thanks Simon, that's just the kind of information I'm looking for.

Certainly the car feels like it has the power available for the performance figures.

I get 24mpg from mine in normal use and 18 pulling my caravan. I didn't cheat, I worked it out by checking miles travelled against refilling the tank.

Do you make it many shows or the Ace Cafe meets?, be happy to meet up sometime if you do.

Roger.

Great. I do get to a few shows in the summer. Mainly local ones, the biggest being Wheels Day in Aldershot, but I do go to Billing every year for the Summer Nationals, and I'm now making Rally of the Giants a regular fixture. Not been to the Ace Cafe yet.

We probably walked past each other at Wheels Day and Billing this year.
Ive been to Billing every year since 1992, never tried ROG though.
Incidentally my Olds was front and centre of the main show pics of Billing in the August 2010 Classic American :) .

I went to ROG for the first time this year and it was excellent - a very big show and car cars on display were unbelieve... I found quite a few models that I'd never seen anywhere else. It is where I found my Bonneville. There are pictures from ROG in the 'On the Road and At the Track' section of this site.
