I think this will apply to everyone, and it might get moved. My really good friend that is my tire guy sold me some tires for my 02 Bonneville SLE with the 5 spokes(235/55/17). He talked me into a 225/60/17 due to a cheaper price, and that I did not really need the high speed rating. He has the exact same Bonneville as me, and said that he was going to run them as well. He has been in the tire industry for 10 years. :btruestory: I am wondering your thoughts on this. I have ready previous post by Andrew(Harofreak00) that is will affect my speedo based on percentages. I have yet to put the tires on, and I am getting ready to replace the front suspension. What will this all affect, and will there be any dramatic differences(handling, speedo, etc)? Thanks for your valuable input.

At 60mph, your speed will read 59mph... not a huge deal. Thats the only difference you will notice.

My blue 2000 had 225's on it when I bought it, and the silver one I just bought also has 225's

You'll have a little better snow and ice traction, and the narrower tire might tend to follow ruts a little more. I like the 235's, just because I have traction issues as it is, lol.

Really. I was worried that it would be worse and I was out $430. It seemed like a huge difference.

It's only 1 cm of width. 22.5 cm vs 23.5 cm wide. Not a huge difference.

Speed rating doesn't matter for you.

I've found that grip levels matter more to following ruts than anything else. Brand new STICKY 245 summer tires follow ruts /dips in the road a lot more than my 205 winter rubber. They also have significantly stiffer sidewalls so they dont' deform as much as the winter tires do in ruts.
