Luckily MN doesn't have inspection, at least not out here in the sticks, the only inspection you get is the one that the cop gives you as he/she drives by. I've only failed that one once, and that was in my Tahoe, because i didn't have fender flares and i had 285 tires that stuck out about 3 inches.

Can you disable the driver side air bag and not the passenger side one? yes you can. If someone on here tells you how to do it and you get in a wreck and die, then the person who told you how to disable a safety device is in deep *shoot*. Good luck finding help on this topic.
If you have any other questions about FIXING your car or mods that wont cause personal injury then we are here to help.

Well then thats I needed to hear because I didnt think of it that way. I was getting upset cause ppl kept acting like I was trying to disable both without caring bout the passenger after I repeatedly asked how to keep them safe as well so thanks for telling me

All "universal" wheels require adapters as well.

My car has a kick ass wheel OEM.

Many people will adapt this in other VW/Audi's, bu they always get airbags working.

The car is designed for airbags, between the seatbelts, crash structure, etc... removing it is risking serious injury/death because you want a cool wheel. This is similar to putting gauges in a pillar pod in my car. There are curtain airbags from the pillar past the driver's head, putting gauges in there is basically putting missiles pointed at you primed and waiting for the airbag to deploy.

Removing the airbag is only good if you have the following.
1) 4/5/6 PT Racing Harness mounted on a rollbar/crossbar
2) Racing Bucket mounted properly
3) Tubular Frame (think stock cars) or survival cell (more like open wheel'd cars) designed to not crumple one bit
4) Helmet.
5) Race track.

You might think you're top dog (you're not, i'm not) and even if you were, there are a million idiots on the road. There are mechanical failures, there are freak accidents, there are deer. I'll take a boring steering wheel over jaw reconstruction, skin grafts, etc 8 days a week.

Those steering wheels should only be used with 6 point racing harnesses. Regular 3 point belts could allow you to come in contact with the wheel...and unless its padded as they are in the 87-91 gen (no bags), your face, chest, arms or hands could be severely lacerated or injured.

Edit: Figures someone would say what I was going to 10 mins beforehand. And I hadn't even read the thread yet heh. :P

Beyond that...it just seems like one of THE most pointless ways to spend money on your car.

Can't say I can help you with making sure the passenger airbag still works if you do go ahead with it...and i'm not sure someone who does know would want to. Sorry man.

Since everyone else replied to your comments about driving w/o a license, I'll leave that area alone.

If you want a steering wheel with no radio controls, you can actually do that and KEEP the airbags operating on both the driver's and passenger's sides.

GET AN SE STEERING WHEEL.

I concur. That was one heck of a hit i felt in the tempo with no airbag, and it was only 20-25 mph worth of impact. It hurt, it really did <not really, but yeah>

That is such an obvious solution it went overlooked. Excellent idea IMO.

The system uses 1 Control Module.... But it runs checks on both the drivers air bag and passenger air bag... If you were to unplug one the system will be rendered useless, at this point the Air Bag light will come on and stay on

SE Steering wheel sounds like an idea
