Okay, so I am doing my UIM, gaskets, and such. I got the UIM off without too much problem, but now I have no clue how to get the LIM off to change those gaskets. The book I have says "Remove bolts, pull off." If anyone could give me a hand as too how to take it off that would be great. I removed eight of the bolts and have no clue how many more there are.

I have not yet removed the tensionor pulley because it seems as though I would also have to take off the water pump, and would rather not do that as well. If I have too I will.

The only thing I have broken so far is my map sensor... stupid thing.

EDIT:

I am finished putting everything back together now. I start it up and it idles fine at the beginning. After a little while, the engine starts to rock more than it should.

Also, If I put it into Reverse, the engine shakes really bad, and there is a sqeaking noise from somewhere near the pully assembly. If I put it in Neutral, the car idles fine for a little while, then rocks and if I put it in Drive from Neutral, it does the same thing as reverse.

I also Have a blinking service engine soon light, so I will borrow an OBD II scanner tonight.

What could be causing the shaking and squeaking? My dad thinks one of the cylinders isnt firing due to a bad spark plug, or a fouled injector (which would seem the most likely to me). Would either of these cause the problem?

It sort of seems like something is wrong with my transmission, because it only happens when I shift into reverse or Drive.

Please help.

Did you get the hidden bolts, there's two. One's on the front left (fif in front of car, it's on the bottom right) and one on the back right (if you're standing in front of the car, it's on the top left)

When I did mine, I never removed the tensioner pulley, I just did the one elbow hooked to the LIM...

Pretty much anywhere you can grab it from will be fine. Keep in mind that you may get some coolant dripping down into the engine doing this. That is one of the reasons that an oil change is recommended after the intake gasket change. Did you drain down the coolant at all yet? If not, I would do that now, before you remove the manifold so that you have less water inside the manifold.

WoooOOOOOooo So I finally got the LIM off, and the porting actually looks pretty square already. Yep I drained about a gallon and a half of coolant out of it. I am about to put the LIM gasket back on and go from there.

I am planning on doing an oil change soon afterwards, and again in a hundred miles or so.

The reassembly begins!

You are getting rid of the Dex right? From where you are at right now, it is pretty easy to do

Get rid of that dex if it hasn't been done already! Is there any way to tell dex apart from other coolants?

Make sure they do a thorough flush, or that they fill with a coolant that mixes with with Dex. If you use the green Prestone and there's a significant amount of Dex still in the system, I have been told that it turns to a gel. They are not compatible. I had green stuff put in years ago when I did the swap. But, I think most guys here now use "mixes with any color" stuff.

Okay pulled the codes and it gave me a P0300 which is a Random/Multiple cylinder misfire. Which is good news (sorta) because it does mean that I either screwed up a plug, or fouled the injectors, which I now know how to replace (yay for learning through experience)

Double check that all the plug wires are on the right coils, and fully reseated on your coils and plugs; this could be causing your misfire(s). Also, could be that a wire(s) got broken during removal, if they were really tight on the plugs...any chance of that? If you own an old-fashioned inductive timing light, checking that each wire is conducting would be easy enough.

Also, how is the MAP sensor broken? Is it the clip(s) that hold it in place? If so, maybe you've got a vac leak there. Could be causing your rough running and your squealing sound.

Finally, did you make sure the PCV valve o-ring is properly seated? Leaving that out would definitely cause the squeal. You can check that by seeing if there is vacuum (there should not be) at the oil fill cap--pull off the cap while running the engine and put your palm over it to check.

Thanks a TON. Okay, the wires could have been damaged, I will check that, the map sensor broke when I pulled it out, i pulled straight up, and all I got was the square part (the part that was in the hole stayed in the hole), I will check to make sure that is seated properly as I wasnt sure about that in the first place. And I will also check the pcv valve o ring.

Thanks A TON for the help

Okay so after all that it turns out that mixing up some plug wires REEALLY makes your engine run funny...
