I've owned 3 L36s, no engine problems besides a water pump..

I've owned a Series 2 L36. No problems until I screwed up the sparkplugs which later led to a spun bearing.

(Don't ask)

There is something wrong with your dad's L67. Both of my PAU's would romp on an L27 PAU all day long.

Don't get me wrong, it will clearly out accelerate the L27 all day long, with no doubt, it is all in the presentation. I am going soley by feel.

And the only only ultras with the l27 was some of the '91. Ultra usually got the L67 <you knew that  >

Hmmm, I thought you were NA there for a second.

I agree that the s1 L67 feels more torqy off the line, but thats just because the s2 power is more refined.

I dunno, I keep hearing everyone say that the SI shows more low end then the SII. I do understand that the SI has a torque peak that is lower in RPM, and I do feel that lower torque, but it only lasts for a few seconds then falls on it's face. I was also able to get a much better 60 ft time with the '03 then with the '93 and I was launching at WOT with the '93 and only about 1/2 - 2/3 throttle with the '03.

Does anyone happen to have a dyno sheet of a stock SI and SII laying around to compare stock numbers of torque and horse power?

my lightly modded SII kicks ass with almost unfaltering reliability. most of the problems have been stuff that i can wait on until it's convenient/ affordable.

and sit in my passenger seat, see if pickles can't toss you back

What's your proof? You've never owned an L36.

I've had several and found them all to be extremely reliable. Aside from the one time fix of aluminium LIM gaskets and flushing out the dex, they're just as reliable as the L27 or L67s.

You just proved my point... I bought it at 106k, and at 155k when I traded it in, the engine hadn't been touched except for maintenance. I wasn't exactly driving miss daisy around either  Intake gaskets and manifolds are not a maintenance item!

I don't need to own one, My brother has had one for years in his LeSabre, that I do most of the work on, I've worked on several of club members, of varying degrees of modification (Hell, I did Jovan's PEMs for him)

The dex and gaskets go out like you mentioned, not a problem on the L27.
The UIM issues... Main reason I bought the car I did over a couple 96-99's I looked at.
Most L36's are hooked up to a 4t-65 which I'm not a fan of.

The 4T-65 statement I'll agree with, luckily my 95 has a 4T60

wtf Juan... #-o

I understand what he means...but I'm not sure I could honestly chose just one over the other. I still looove the L27's get up and move power (Obviously, since I've made a few attempts and jumped hurdles to keep mine going!) even after enjoying the pros of my SSEi. But I picked SI since they're down in the polls. :P

IDK. It's hard. I was very impressed with the SI Buick I rode in. It pulled like mad. But my SII Buick will pull like mad at highway speeds, and toss you into the seats pretty well once it's moving courtesy of the 2.86 gears.

From a standing start, the SI would take the SII up to about 30 mph. Then the SII would start romping and stomping. From a roll, no contest.

I've tried this, and no, you are wrong. I killed the Series I from a stand-still. Remember, I have 3.06 gears

Do all L67s, SI an SII have the same final drive ratio? I know NA engine have deeper gears, but who cares. And what are the differences in ratios of the transmissions for SI and SII

2.93 Is in all supercharged 4T65-e, not sure about the 4T60e
The N/A sport gearing is 3.05 vs 3.06, virtually no difference.

The 2.86 gears in my car vs. the 3.06 in yours would make the difference. Mine launches decently, but a SI car could likely launch harder.

Next time I'm around a SI car and an open stretch of road it'll need to be tested. :beerchug:
