Yester GM released a new policy stating that if you have chip in your diesel you are screwed warranty wise. Allow me to explain. Some people are chipping or dual chipping thier diesels to as high as 800+ hp and blow stuff up and take the chips out and bring it in for warranty work.

So now all codes get stored in the pcm. Mechanics have to take a picture of the codes / programming on your pcm and send it in to GM. If even ONE SINGLE code is out of place or does not match your powertrain warranty is prettty much voided.

Is there a way around this? Not without a second UNTOUCHED pcm.

In theory, they've always been able to do that. In practice, some may be looking harder at it now. Same story for gasoline engines. Even though a tune on a gasoline engine makes 20-30 hp instead of a few hundred, they can still void a warranty.
