I bought the group 75 Optima, and haven't installed it because I think the post terminals on top are so ugly. Did some research, and the group 78 battery, which has side terminals only, says that a puck adapter is required for use on my car. Any thoughts? Thanks.

The puck adaptor is just a special piece that replaces your original battery hold-down, because of the odd shape of the optima battery. Physically, it should fit in the tray just fine. A group 78 battery is a group 78 battery, other than the fact that the optima has those goofy shaped sides.

Are group 78 and group 75 the same physical size?

I'd keep the 75... It's under your hood, who cares what it looks like! IIRC you have the underbodies on your car still, and some sort of stereo? Top posts are INVALUABLE for those sort of devices IMO. Also makes jumping a hell of a lot easier.

Thanks for the advice. I'll put it in and see if i can stand it. I found some terminal caps to put on the posts so i can take that big ugly plastic ring off the top.
