Howdy. Newb to the site

Few questions. Could boost from the lobe housing somehow have found its way into the snout?

I was doing some fuel tuning (MegaSquirt) the other day. I was in the top of 3rd gear at about 14psi and I almost instantly went from boost to full vac on my gauge. I pulled over assuming I lost the belt, pop'd the hood and oil was all over my belts, hood, and even my wheel's inside.

I tracked the the oil to being from the blower. It leaks from the snout only when turning.

On the drive home she would only build about 8psi. Is this most likely from an oil coverd slippy belt? Or is this sudden seal failure related to the boost loss other than slicking up the belt?

Regardless I orderd a snout rebuild kit from rolling performance. I havent removed the blower yet but Iam fearing the worst. Atleast Ill have a rebuild kit if I end up buying another M62.

I'd guess it's just from belt slip. You'll probably want a new belt.

You'd have to have a rotor plate bearing failure of some sort. If yours still turns fine, I doubt it's a problem.

If there's rotational play in the pulley, you'll need a coupler, by the way. If there's no wobbling, grinding, or play, you may just need a new nosedrive shaft seal. There's two kinds, nitrile and viton. I'd get the cheaper of the two. It seems to "seat" better and won't leak as much off the bat.

*dang*, I have a rebuld kit with the "Viton" seal on the way.

Well, give it a shot. Just because it didn't work for me and a few others, doesn't mean it'll fail you.

That sounds like bearing failure. If the goo got to the seal, it could tear it and leak. Hope it's the nose drive bearings and not the rotor plate bearings. Those are impractical to replace.

Its weird. Everything turns fine. No binding or noises. Ive never changed rotor bearings before. These bearings now arent that old. I changed them along with the coupler and snout seal about a year ago and prob only 1k miles.
