So, I have a 1995 Bonnie SLE , L36 , reinforced tran, SSEi Exhaust. L36 motor.. I was wondering about swapping to the S/C L67 out of a 1999 SSEi, Would it work? Would I need the wiring harness? Computer? Or even the trans out of that 99'

The best long term option is to go full OBD2 swap with engine, trans, pcm, wiring harness from that ’99.

I'm pretty well versed in upgrading the 4t60-e/hd and no matter what you do, it won't handle much over stock power levels.. well. Most of that is in the weight of the car, lower volume pump, smaller diff (60-hds have same diff size as non-hd), and lack of hard part upgrades. Yes, some do it. But historically over the past 15 years, higher power S1 L67 and 96 S2 L67 4t60-hd equipped cars have had pre mature issues.

If you decide that you’re going to stay close to stock, which if you’re doing the swap is probably unlikely, you can drop a L67 into your 95 with the 60 and use a modified 95 L36 wiring harness. I wouldn’t suggest doing a top swap because what you would need to do to open the engine up for that compression will put you past stock power levels. Also, unless you’re well versed in tuning a OBD1.5 setup, the risk of popping the top ring land is higher.

Either way you will need a good data logging scan tool and a tune.
For a L67 4t60 and 95 pcm combo (You cannot control a 4t65 with a 95 pcm):

If you go full OBD-2 swap (recommended), don't forget to grab the C/V axles, they are different length and inner spline than the 4t60.

Another question: How is the blower motor in your 95? Does full power feel very light? I've checked my blower motor and all vacuum lines when I had the interior completely apart but found nothing wrong..

The blower motor in the 92-99 was never really that great.. If you can't change what vents the air blows out your air mix actuator is broken. It will usually default to most air pointed at the floor with some out of the center.

Yeah, it did break one time. Fixed it right away had some plastic vacuum lines..


On another note, is there anything internally I could do in order to get some more power out of the L36?
