i was out at my local salvage yard and i saw a Grand prix GTP that had an engine fire and still had the sc on it. i was wondering if it would be worth it to take it off, buy it, and possibly rebuild it? :dontknow: Fire got hot enough to melt all the wires and front tires. i spun the pulley and it moves, has a lot of play but its not stuck. i can get it for about $50, my labor and tools..

I wouldn't touch it with a 10-foot pole. Heating to extremes and cooling can do crazy things to a supercharger, especially the seals behind the rotor plate.

Tolerances between the two rotors and case are TIGHT. Any deformation there, or on mounting surfaces will just make it an expensive paperweight....

Hi There;

I suggest that you have to take it off and rebuild it once again.Its worth it don't you think that $50 is not expensive anymore because it already includes the tools and the labor.

ive thought bout it, but i went and got an extra deck lid for $50 to do some custom work to, instead of a supercharger that was in a fire... Willren and Bonneme know what there talking bout, i really dont want an expensive paper weight. But jho14 if you want it send me the money and ill go get for you...

That supercharger is a total loss, and should be avoided. Even if the case hasn't warped from the heat, very few people are capable of replacing the seals in the intermediate plate, and I can assure you that those seals are melted.

In addition, nobody can do a rebuild on any supercharger for $50. Think quite a bit higher.
