this idea has been stuck in my head for a couple weeks...

now I'm not asking if its a good idea..... anytime your adding nitrous is a bad idea...

has anyone ran nitrous on a bonne GXP?

how big of shot could i "safety" run?

will the motor/trans have any chance of holding up?

all hypothetically of course ;)

You could probably run a 50 shot w/o breaking anything, but it's not the best idea. The imperative thing when adding more oxygen is to add the proper ratio more fuel so you don't run lean. If you lose fueling during a nitrous hit you can kiss your $9k engine goodbye. You gotta make sure you can add the proper amount of fuel, and have safeguards in place so if you lose fuel your nitrous cuts off immediately. The kits you see for Mustangs, Camaros, etc all have fuel pressure switches that will close the solenoid if the fuel pressure falls below a set point. That's why they're able to sell those kits in a mainstream manner.

well a wet kit would be a must.... im not going back to a dry kit like i had on my LT1 roadmaster....

my thoughts were....
75hp shot
wide open throttle switch
3000-redline rpm window switch

any thoughts on that?

I think you'd be Ok. What are WI's laws on Nitrous? I know in MN you can't have the valve on the bottle open while operating on a public roadway.

i dont think you can even have it hooked up in WI..... but how are they gonna know ;)

unless they're familiar with it and know the smell... (leaves a distinct smell in the exhaust fumes)

If they decide to search your car, etc. Don't give them a reason to, and they won't. You could also get a remote bottle opener. Flick of a switch and it's opened or closed.

I'm not gonna recommend it to you, but there isn't much I can do to stop you either. Sounds like you have some idea of what you're doing. Might wanna check out one of the "Universal EFI" kits from companies like NX. Would probably be a good place to start.

i was looking at ZEX kits... i heard they're the best bang for your buck....

but still not sure if i wanna do this to a car i plan to keep for a while....

my roadmaster held up great to nitrous... but this not being your average pushrod V8 and easily repairable. I'm still up in the air with the whole idea.

If you're concerned, don't do it. Get some more money and get a beater camaro or something you can mess with and not worry about losing a $9k engine.

I'd just stick with the K&N and maybe a set of mufflers for the GXP, then get something else to mess with.

no mufflers... i like having a somewhat quiet car... i think the exhaust is perfect as is for my DD.
