i have a 1996 ssei and i took mt car to my mechanic because i was constantly having the p0171 enginlean code. i have my car back and now the rod from the bottom of the bca wont full extend, it only goes a quarter of the way. also i was wondering is there supposed to be vacuum coming from the sid of the bcs that goes to the bca. when i took the tube coming from the bcs to the bca off it started boosting is it the bca or the bcs. oh and i havent seen the p0171 in like 3 weeks but my boost guage is still jumping around any help with that would be greatly appreciated.

Sounds like the BCS is bad. Normally, it allows atmospheric pressure to the bottom of the BCA, but when it fails, it only lets pressure from the LIM by to the BCA, keeping the lever up and the wastegate open.

The T fitting is in the lower intake manifold under the snout of the SC. Do you mean you don't have a vacuum line on it, or there is nothing there at all.

Your 96 is a little different because you have a vacuum port tree on the front of the SC, and 97+ doesn't, but this might help.

If you post a picture of your engine, I can draw how its supposed to be.

You are missing a vacuum line between the BCS and the BCA. Your BCA is also held together with a zip-tie, probably because it's broken/leaking.

These are the two current issues I see right now from your pictures.

Cut that tie-wrap off the BCA. If it falls apart, replace it. Harofreak00 probably has one or three laying around.

Buy new tubing at any local auto parts store, replace it whether you think it needs it or not. Not the hard lines though, those should be good.

I see a vacuum boot coming out of the front of the throttle body flange with sealant stuff in it. You may have a leak there, too. At warm idle, what does your boost gauge read? Can you post a pic of it? That gauge can be a clear indicator of a vacuum leak. I also see other repaired vacuum lines on that motor.

As I see it, you have possible vacuum leaks, splices, a missing line, and a possible bad BCA for starters.

the boost guage is sometimes steady on -7 and sometimes it jumps from -7 to -10 and when my car gets hot to where the fans cut on sometimes it is steady on -10 until i put my car in drive or even when i hit the brakes i see it jump. when i am goin like 50 mph its steady on - 10 until i slow down. I will post a pic later on today

-7 is an indication of a pretty bad vacuum leak, or several small leaks. Please complete the repairs I've identified already in this topic (including replacing the BCS, adding a line from the BCS to the BCA, and repairing/replacing any improper vacuum line connections as pointed out), then when you're done with all that, please come back and tell us what symptoms remain.

Ok i was checking my car today and i noticed that my map sensors didnt have actual vacuum going to them could that cause a car to run lean. What i mean by not haveing vacuum is that the lines on the map sensors went from the map sensors to under the supercharger nose and stopped. where is that how it is supposed to be or is it supposed to go somewhere else after it goes under the nose of the supercharger.

One of your MAP sensors is supposed to be connected to the fitting in the Lower Intake Manifold under the nosedrive of the supercharger. That's how it reads manifold vacuum or boost on the gauge.

Have you fixed all the vacuum lines and replaced your broken BCA like we suggested?

What you described about the Map sensors is exactly how it is. I just thought it was supposed to get some kind of vacuum from one of the other lines. I haven't been able to replace the bca yet but will do very soon.
