Ok so i had the rattling coming from the charger so i ordered the intense coupler kit. I got the old oil out *yuck* and took out all the bolts. Then i had to tap it with a mallet to get it to separate. Both of the sections separated (ie nosedrive to gears and the other side gears/rotors to case). I didnt think the coupler was that bad until i tried to push the new one on..the old one slid off into my fingers, and the new one i had to tap it with the back side of a screwdriver..its snug.

Questions before reassembly:

1.) Do both sides of what came apart need the anaerobic gasket maker? To be honest there did not look to be ANY residue of old gasket of any kind on that supercharger. I know that the nosedrive to gears needs it as there is oil in there but does the other side need it as it is only air in there?

2) Is it easier to put the coupler on the gears side or the nosedrive side for reassembly or does it not matter?

3) Do the bolts need the blue thread locker like all the other LIM bolts? I can find the torque specs in the FSM but wasnt sure about thread locker for this.

I appreciate all the info i can get..this is the first charger I have seen the guts of in person.

You can use the sealer for both sides. Don't use excessive amounts.

I can't see how it would matter which side you put the coupler on first.

You don't need thread locker on them.

Thanks Wren! I lurked that site for a while to make sure i felt up to the work. I am just glad that the coupler fixed the noise..i get to put off the bearing and needle bearing job for a while yet.
