Hello All,

I'm new to the site and Bonnevilles in general. I did a search, but could not find what I am looking for. Anyway, I just picked up a 93 Bonneville SE and had a question about the Traction Control. The light in my dash says Traction Control Off and the button on the console is stuck. The button is lit up, but I can push it in. My question is, how do I remove the button to try and free it up so I can turn the Traction Control back on? Thanks for any help!

There maybe more to the issue than a stuck button, I would suggest getting a code reader and seeing if there are any codes.

I don't think a typical code scanner can read traction control codes. I think it has to be the "fancier" dealer/mechanic-likely-to-have type scanner.

Is there an ABS light also? That would tend to indicate a wheel speed sensor issue.

If the button really is stuck, you just have to pry up on the entire switch bank there...the whole thing pops up. Pull out the pigtail harness until the plugs come out, then unplug it. Getting the switches apart is harder but just involves more prying. The TC button is momentary, meaning that when you push it in, a little spring is supposed to push it back up. If the switch is stuck down, the PCM might not like it.

A typical code reader won't work, as John mentioned.

Does the traction off light come on only after driving a few feet or at a certain speed? I bet it does, but rule out a sticky button first. As mentioned, the button is momentary and will not stay latched. That's normal.

With a little more information from you, we can take this to the next level.
