Hello all
2005 bonneville se
While looking for short I remove ignition switch and replaced with a new 1
I used the old cylinder and a electronic device that I’m assuming has to do with security
Now vehicle will not crank and security is on the dash
It’s solid doesn’t flash
Disconnecting battery
Leaving key on 10 minutes
Nothing has helped
Any ideas

You shouldn't have to do a security relearn after replacing an ignition switch, unless you replaced, damaged, or screwed up in the installation of the Theft Deterrent Exciter Module. It should have stayed attached to the cylinder when you pulled it out of the switch. Did you run into any issues?

Whatever the cause, your next option is to do a security relearn.

Here are the instructions from the service manual:
1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF, using a master Pass-Key® III key (black).
2. Observe the security telltale. After approximately 10 minutes the telltale will turn off.
3. Turn OFF the ignition, and wait 5 seconds.
4. Repeat step 1-3 two more times, for a total of 3 cycles or 30 minutes.

Here are instructions written from someone who has done many relearns.
1. Insert black key into ignition and turn to ON. Start 10 minute timer.
2. Wait for the yellow SECURITY light to go out and then turn the key to OFF for 5 seconds.
3. Again, turn igntion to ON. Start 10 minute timer.
4. Wait for the yellow SECURITY light to go out and then turn the key to OFF for 5 seconds.
5. Again, turn igntion to ON. Start 10 minute timer.
6. Wait for the yellow SECURITY light to go out and then turn the key to OFF for 5 seconds.
7. Again, turn igntion to ON and the car should start.

A couple points to mention. Roll the window down and keep all the doors shut during the entire process. Reach through the window opening to turn the key. If you have one, hook up a battery charger and charge it while you do the relearn. With the key on, it can drain the battery. To keep the load off the battery turn off the radio, blower fan and the headlights. Rotate the DELAY knob to OFF every cycle. Use a stopwatch or timer to keep track of the 10 minute intervals so you can stay on top of it.

So update is
The radio was also unplugged
The security never went out or flashed

I’ve been chase a draw so I had a lot unhooked
The radio wouldn’t come on because there was no switched hot
My thinking was ignition switch was bad and not providing switched hot so put in a new one
Something made me plug in radio and the security light went off
Still don’t have a switched hot
So very strange

Thank you
You don’t have any idea why my switched hot going to my radio wouldn’t be hot do you?
Yellow constant hot is all I have
Red or any other color is not hot with key

So if there’s no switched power to that radio harness How do I connect a aftermarket radio to it
Could that be where my draw was come ng from?
Do you have a radio for sale
It’s an 2005 sr harness intact
Thanks

You need to source your own ignition power for an aftermarket radio.

I have no idea where your draw is coming from, you never mentioned the results from disconnecting the front and rear fuse blocks.

Yes I have OEM radios for sale.
