Year and Trim: 1993 Bonneville SLE

1999 Bonneville SLE
Hi All,

My son has a 2002 SSEi - pure stock - and it has developed a bit of a problem that I at this point assume is electrical. I should also note that it has been raining here and he left his driver window down during a downpour.

Since the rain got into the car and soaked the driver side floor, the car will occasionally begin to run rough and the oil pressure and fuel gauges drop to zero. Sometimes it stalls. Oil is full, fuel is full. All other gauges are fine, lighting all looks good and strong. He checked the battery terminals and they are both tight and corrosion free; battery and alternator test good. Along with the gauge problem, the driver window is intermittent but we were able to get it closed and are leaving it there. I have ordered a new switch.

I'm wondering (I have not been able to get the car from him yet) if there is a ground buss bar under the carpet/trim on the driver side floor area. I have one in my 1999 Bonneville and when that corroded it caused very strange electrical problems. Rewired it and everything has been fine since. We live in the salt belt so everything driver side related takes a beating.

Looking forward to your suggestions...
