Not sure if I'm posting in the right place, but the cigarette lighter in my bonneville isn't working and I wanted to know what I would have to do to fix it. I wanted to use the plug in so I can hook my phone up and play music, but since it won't work I can't do it.

Have you checked the fuses? They are in the under hood fuse block.

As per your year and trim notation, a 'Trim Level' refers to SE, SLE or SSEi (others are also possible prior to 2000).

Mine blows the fuse constantly, every time I plug my laptop
into it. Started using the backseat lighter mounted on the back
of the console and never had the issue again. I'm not sure
if yours has the backseat lighter, but if you're too lazy to check
fuses right now, you could check if you have another lighter in the back.

I found that these outlets can short and blow the fuse very easily, depending on what you plug into them. The design of both the outlet and some of the adapters/chargers on the market aren't a great fit.

Also note that that fuse holder has 2 ways you can plug the fuse into it, depending on whether or not you want the Power Point to be on just when the key is on, or powered whether the key is on or not. Handy feature.

I'll check sometime in the next few days

I do have one in the backseat, but I'm not sure if the backseat one would let me control music in the car. Not even 100% sure I'll be able to find a gadget that will let me hook my phone up anyway, but still.

Thank you for letting me know :)

You can't play music from your phone through the factory
stereo unless you rig up an auxiliary input first.
You probably know that, but no bluetooth or anything either.
