I have a 2000 Bonneville. The Security light was on for a few weeks then it went out. Now when I unlock and open the driver's side door with any of my keys the car the alarm goes off. I can turn the alarm off by starting the car, but how do I get it to stop doing this? Frustrated!

I'm wondering if the switch in your door is bad. When you insert and turn the key, it activates a switch that disables the alarm. Other possibilities include bad wiring from the switch into the car or perhaps a fault with the anti-theft system. Do you have a key fob for this car (there were a few that didn't come with this option)?

As I recall, the 2000 model year still had a key cylinder in the passenger door as well. What happens when you open that one with the key?

hi, you can try standing in front of hood and push both lock and unlock at the same time and hold till the car cycles with lights and horn.......... that may work

I believe you can lock the door manually (push the lever down) without using power locks and it never sets the alarm.
