Wanted to pose a question for those of you in the know.

The seat-swap experiment is complete (mostly) and seems to have yielded me 2 new seats with 8 way power, lumbar and heated seats. In a great act of irony, the original items that sparked this quest (the switches) are both missing one or both illumination bulbs.

This afternoon, I am going to make an attempt to repair them with a new bulb, however, I am not holding out much hope. My question deals with the 00-03 / 04-05 switches.

Is there any real differnece between these switches besides the color? The price difference on GMpartsdirect is $13 each. If I can get the switches for that much cheaper, then I may just go that route. Even if I go straight to the dealership, they are still cheaper than the 00-03.

Also, as a side note, anyone know the part number for the 04-05 traction control switch. I can't seem to locate it, but if its reasonably priced, i might make that all black as well, assuming it too is interchangable.

the bulbs in the switches are easy to replace.

The red backlight is done by a gel coating on a regular bulb, and the HIGH and LOW indicators are done with a surface mount LED.

There is no difference between the switches other than the color, however you will find the bulbs cheaper at RadioShack than replacing the entire switch.

As always sir, you are knowledgeable and helpful, thank you. I'll pick up bulbs on my lunch break.
