Hey guys, I just changed my plugs with high performance plugs and the wires with high performance msd wires, and I just found out the distributors are origonal, they have 180k miles on them and so now I want high performance distributors to complete the set, but I am doing so research and I can only seem to find the stalk distributors, would they even work in my car (1993 pontiac bonneville ssei) bc right now I have the 3 seperate distributors. Are there high performance distributors that are the 3 seperate ones or do I have to get the stalk one (where all the wire terminals are on one cap) and if I do need the stalk one will it even be compatable with my car, and the big question is will the stalk one even fit under the hood, aka will I be able to close the hood.
Thanks and cheers guys

Can anyone vouch for Jacobs? They seem to be the best so far that I have been able to find

There isn't a distributor, in the traditional sense. We have coil packs. Three seperate ones with 2 posts on each. OEM replacements for a 96+ L67 or MSD brand are what I would suggest.

They're coils, not distributors, first off, like John said. If you feel the need to upgrade, go to the junkyard and find a Series II supercharged car, and get them off of that. There is NO need to spend $50 apiece on the MSD coils. They were actually designed for the L36, and have a bad track-record. You also blew about $50 buying their wires too.

What kind of "High Performance" plugs did you get suckered into buying?

I've been happy with my MSD coils. Testing suggests they are pretty close to Series II L67 coils, plus, they're red.

to 00Beast, the plugs i got were ac delco double platinum rapid fire.
so everyone seems to be vouching for msd? because i have read a lot of different personal reviews and it seems that people dont like msd coils, they say their engine runs rougher at idle and foul up relatively quick. and ive read reviews about jacobs coils and so far have not seen any negative reviews, thats why im leaning heavily towards jacobs

and to 00beast, why do you say i blew 50$ on their wires? why was that a bad idea to get the msd wires? (not being sarcastic, i know just about nothing about wires and i would seriously like to know why it was a bad idea so i can increase my knowledge a bit more)

Got your PM, just gonna comment here.

Take those plugs out NOW. Platinum plugs turn into a glow plug in supercharged engines, and you will cause misfires at best, and blow a hole in a piston at worse. Copper or Iridium only in S/C engines. No exceptions, and I don't care what the guy at the dealer, parts counter or your buddy told you. They are going to do damage.

There is no need to get aftermarket coils. If you feel you absolutely need a coil upgrade, get a set of Series 2/3 supercharged coils. They're the "best" factory coil. The stock coils work just fine, hell, most of the fastest guys still run stock coils.

A wire is a wire after a certain point. You're not running a high-performance race engine. Most of the top 25 3800's use NAPA Beldin wires. If you feel like the look was worth it to you, then I guess there are worse ways you can spend $50.

Holy crap seriously? The platinum plugs will do damage? If so right after I get outa class today I'm going right over to advanced auto parts and getting ac delco iridium plugs immediately, thank you very much for your information and helping me avoid serious engine problems, I've only run the for about 4 days and put 40 or so miles on them, do you think damage has been done or did I catch it, or rather you catch it in time?

Unless it was 40 miles at full throttle, I don't think so. It happens at wide-open-throttle under boost, they heat up and cause big knock.
